Tithing - Is it required?

Hi everyone. Some churches teach that we should tithe 10% of our income. I was just wondering, does the Catholic Church also teach this? 🤷 :confused:
 
No. The Church does not mandate a particular percent of income be given to the Church.

From the CCC 2041 section on the Precepts of the Church:

The fifth precept (“You shall help to provide for the needs of the Church”) means that the faithful are obliged to assist with the material needs of the Church, each according to his own ability.

Ah ok. I knew that we were obligated to help the Church out materially but I didn’t know if that meant tithing 10% of our income or what.
