TLC Gypsy show and 1st Communion Dresses

That’s odd, because France protects their gypsies at the same time. You cannot evict them from your land for 30 days, at minimum, even though they are trespassing. 30 days can do a LOT of damage, and if your property includes items that they want, you have to put up a guard to protect your own property, at YOUR OWN COST. I don’t see any victimization of gypsies. They are like the mafia in a way - they do their own thing and no one can interfere or there is trouble.
 
My experience is current, not from previous centuries. They are protected in France. It’s Jews who are being targeted in most of Europe, more than gypsies.
 
I was in Rome recently and did not find that many gypsies about. I may have counted 12 in the time we were there. There were a few begging around the Vatican. Now I know that Italy is not a third-world country and has services for the poor so I had to question as to why they’d chose begging. The other factor being they could not have got to their area without help. One woman had two club feet, a man about 34 sat without arms, a third was at least 85 and had fallen asleep with her begging cup in her hand. Of course, it is very sad to see. I saw no one donating. I’m sure most were aware that the police are trying to discourage this. I’m assuming the gypsies are Catholic. How successful is the Church is getting them to stop begging?
