TLM Mass help

Hello, I am just wondering if EF Mass and TLM are the same thing

Anyways, since I first heard about the TLM (which wasn’t until I turned 14, even though I am a cradle Catholic) I wanted to attend one. However, I know that won’t happen soon, since I am only 15 and the nearest TLM that I know of is a 3 hour car trip away I still feel a strong pull towards the Mass that shows such a deep reverence to Our Lord. How do I deal with these feelings??

How to deal with it? Find a decent OF Mass somewhere closer.

Early morning masses tend to be more reverant; you could try that. You could always try different parishes, too. I don’t know if that’s an option for you since you’re too young to drive. I’m blessed to live in an area where there are 2-3 parishes within walking distance. Latin masses tend to pop up now and then. Perhaps one will come to a parish near you!

For years I was in the same boat as you, so I went to the best Masses I could find; the early morning ones do seem to be the most reverent. In the meantime, I also watched EF Masses that posted were online and purchased others on DVD.

This one was the first EF Mass I saw, so it is very special to me b/c of that. Oh it struck me like lightning from Heaven!

They also have a lovely Requiem Mass; it’s not online but is available for purchase! Actually I ended up buying all three DVDs.

This one really made me feel as if I was there – I’m small, so I’m used to people blocking my view!

The Pontifical High Mass, July 2009 is particularly interesting b/c a bishop is celebrant so there’s extras. Bishop Perry has a beautiful voice.

I first discovered the Latin Mass when I found an old missal. Every evening I’d go through it and thus got familiarized with the Mass. Years later when I was gifted to finally see it, it wasn’t so foreign. You might want to see if you can find one. And if you can study Latin, bonus! I had a great professor at college.

Finally, find a saint or saints who celebrated this form of the Holy Mass and humbly ask for their help, so you can worship as they did. I asked Blessed John Henry Newman for his intercession.

If you do not feel that the Mass you usually attend is a reverent as it could be, follow the advice of the other posters and go to the earliest Mass your parish offers. When you greet the priest after Mass, and he asks why a young person such as yourself is at such an early Mass, (these Masses are usually attended by older people who don’t like the behaviors they see at the later Masses), then you can answer that you like the reverence. You would not be directly criticizing the other Masses, and you would be showing him that young people like reverent liturgy. I think that a lot of what might be considered irreverent at Mass today is done for the purpose of attracting young people. If Father sees that this is not working, he might rethink what is going on at the later Masses. Always remember to be respectful to your priests.

They are the same. If it’s so far away, why not rabble rouse and see if you can interest other people in having the TLM closer to home. Read the pope’s Summorum Pontificem. Remember be respectful, but be persistent.

A couple days ago, I was talking to one of my mom’s friends (who attends a Latin Mass at least monthly) and she mentioned that there is a local priest that might be interested in bringing the TLM to a parish that is only 20 minutes away. He does, however, need the permission of the bishop (who is new to our diocese), so I’m not quite sure how long the process might take, but at least I will be able to check out the links that a few of you posted

Most who refer to “TLM” are speaking of the EF. However, the OF (which is also a part of Roman tradition) can also be said in Latin. EF is technically more specific than TLM.
