TLM Question

I like the TLM because I like history. I like to worship as the Saints did. I also like the NO. There is no such thing as a “bad Mass” if the rubrics are followed. God bless our Holy Father, for giving us both the ordinary and extraordinary forms of Mass to worship God. 👍 :signofcross: :highprayer:

…Every time the whole mass seemed distinct and cold. It’s not the Latin, it really just seems the people and the father is on autopilot. There is no joy or sense of community.

I am glad it is different you many of you. I wish it were for me as well.
Sorry you got this impression. Just try to remember and appreciate the focus of most of the TLM regulars and of course the priests and servers will be on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass itself, not on the congregation around them. It, to them, is the most solemn and serious and awesome action and event in the universe…they are at the foot of the cross (and you are too).

At all the TLMs I’ve assisted at, the priests always are disciplined enough and humble enough to let their own personalities be “swallowed up” by the liturgy - not peeking out until - and only at - the homily. “Let the Liturgy do the talking” so to speak.

Thing is, hang around afterwards - coffee and donuts are usually offered after Mass. Get to know these folks and the priests, and you’ll probably find the most cheerful, friendly, joy-filled Catholics you’ve ever met.

That’s been my experience anyway.

Peace in Christ,

DustinsDad

Thank you Cat, Brooklyn, Lak611 & DudtinsDad! I am the sacristan at my parish today, but I will try and go to the TLM next week with this new insight… If my 2 yo will let me! 😉
