Hello,
I am an aspiring catholic, who feels a call to the traditions of the church. Especially the Tridentine form of the mass. Are there any catholics who share these interests in southwest Virginia?

Don’t know about your area, but friends of mine in Harrisonburg attend a Melkite, Eastern Catholic parish. TLM is a rare bird in the US.

The closest tlm is in either Appomattox or Greensboro, va. I’m looking for people in the area in order to request the mass from one of the local priests. I think that if a sizable enough community expressed interest, we could have a mass in this area.

Try placing some ads in bulletins.
However, priests who can celebrate TLM and do not are pretty rare… Your best bets are to either have a priest from another of those aforementioned TLM parishes come to you, or to find a sympathetic priest in your diocese and see if he is willing to learn how to celebrate EF.

Yeah, I know many of priests in the area but, it seems to me, that they are very busy. The priest at my parish has two parishes to care for and they are about 45 minutes apart. I would feel bad to ask the priest to consider it, given his busy schedule. However, if there were more people around who wanted it, it would seem like less of a burden. And placing it in the bulletin is a good idea.

bad in the way of asking father to do something that it hard, especially when he has some much else going on.
