We have to be careful that our traditions don’t contridict scripture. Not to say it does, but we should be careful.

Apostolic Tradition CANNOT contradict Scripture since it’s source is the same source for both, the Holy Spirit. This is not man-made tradition which exists but is NOT Sacred Tradition. One of the main problems occurs when one fails to recognize the difference. Man-made traditions, which are utilized even in secular society, can be changed. Apostolic Tradition is sacred revelation stemming from the apostolic era and cannot be changed just as Scripture cannot be changed. Scripture is written Tradition given to the Church by the Apostlic Tradition. So in closing, these our not “our traditions”. This is divine revelation from God and God cannot contradict Himself so we’re pretty safe when it comes to that concern. God Bless you…🙂

Also need to keep in mind the definitions of Traditions and Customs! 🙂

One can understand where a lot of Bible only’ believers are coming from

I am amazed at how many Catholics believe fanciful imaginations, things which actually have no substance either in Catholic doctrine or in the bible.

Fanciful thinking has no place and does a dis-service to authentic tradition

Many people think like this:

Bible: God’s inspired word

Tradition: Man’s rules and rituals

Many people think like this:

Those people do not have the understanding of Sacred Tradition. Catholics think like this:

Bible: God’s inspired written Word

Tradition: (paradosis in greek meaning “handed on”) God’s
inspired preached Word. Much of this preached
gospel was written down and is known as the
Bible.

Many people believe a lot of things but that doesn’t make it correct. Unless one has a full understanding of what the definition of Sacred Tradition is they will continue to walk in the realm of error and cannot ever converse with a Catholic who knows the true meaning. Tradition with a capital “T” is Sacred Tradition inspired by God and is unchanging and can NEVER contradict Scripture since it comes from the same source. When you see the word tradition with a lower case “t” then it refers to the customs and rituals of man. BIG, HUGE, ENORMOUS difference. Hope this helps or this circle will never end…God Bless
