To all New Catholics: What is your favorite thing about the Church?

I’m still a bit new-ish (became Catholic in 2001). For me, it’s the Eucharist and the fact that the Catholic Church is Jesus’ church. And the structure. I don’t miss the days of church hopping with my mother and the contradicting theologies of all the many denominations out there. So my favorites are the Eucharist and the Rock.

Wow - that’s bad - the tithing thing!!

Now i am interested in the “much more than that” part. 😃
I agree with just about anything anyone above has said. There’s too much to list. I feel like life has opened up to me for the first time in my life.

My point was that with Protestants, it all seems to be about money. With the Catholic’s it’s about everything else, love, good acts, faith, charity, etc., etc…

One thing that came to mind that I did today. We count Sunday’s collections after Monday morning mass. It’s usually about four women. We chat, talk about kids, grandkids, etc., but there is never, ever a negative thing said about anyone. No gossiping. Also, no one looks at the total of the collections. I have no idea how much was collected yesterday. None!

The rich mystical and contemplative dimension, especially in the various monastic orders.

Anyone totally love confession? That and the Eucharist are my favorite things, but I have a special place for confession. John Paul II called confession the Sacrament of Joy.

God bless,
Aaron

I love being Catholic - Home Sweet Home!

My favorite things (not necessarily in order):

The Mass and Holy Eucharist
The Structure and Authority
All the Sacraments
Mama
The Saints
The Apologetics
The Rich History and Tradition
:yup:

But I’m learning some of my best, and often only sources for wisdom besides the ordained are the Bible & CC.

Again, please don’t misunderstand, just some recent personal observations.
Your observations are valuable. Everyone sees things a little differently… and that is good.
It seems to me that in the forums, and elsewhere in the Church, a person can be “suppressed” or whatever… I often get the feeling it is “not OK” to feel this or think that… People get stifled because they think that if they think or feel something that seems “anti-Church” (??) or whatever, thye are going 2 “get it”… and often, they do… Pretty pathetic…
I think that as long as a person doesn’t trash the Church in every way (tho they may question this or that…), they should b able to express their views… If a person notices something “amiss”, whether in Church or elsewhere, i believe it is his/her duty to do or say something about it… Otherwise, he/she is not being true to him/herself… and couild be keeping the Church from being healed somehow…
Of course, one has to be willing to be “crucified” But hey, if u say something in a positive way, that should count 4 something…
Anyway, i really believe that if someone sees or thinks they see something “wrong”, he should feel free to express that… If not, something is wrong. But there is a lot wrong (in my opinion) in the Church right now 😦 God bless… thanks for sharing…

I like the reverence of the services and the sacraments
I like the inclusiveness
I like the safeguards against dubious practices

I’m not a new Catholic but feel like it since i was away for a long time.

My favorite thing is the Presence of Jesus 🙂 available (in some places) 24/7. 🙂
Also i love the Mass because i have heard that all of Heaven participates and i believe this… 🙂
