I think, if I understand what Cherie said correctly, they put you on their insurance. :confused:
 
Thank you. 🙂 Please let me know if you find out what insurance they use, as I won’t be writing Cherie again until Monday and/or Tuesday with more questions. I haven’t figured out if I’m inquisitive or lacking in trust and abandonment. :confused:

I’m short on money for things too, and I’ve been hoping to get an under-the-table job. Do you have any ideas of where to find one? ex. dog walking, babysitting, housecleaning, errands, odd jobs, etc.

What do you think is a bigger deal to orders? Being on a medicine; the copays; or having a controlled mental condition?

I used to babysit, but so many people, unless they know you, want references which I don’t have right now because I have only had one job in 4 years and I was at it for less than 6 months. 😦

You might try to look up the Craigslist for your area and click on the “ETC” listings in the job posts and see if anyone in your area is looking for anyone for odd jobs. Sometimes, people post for day laborers such as brand ambassadors where you promote a company
for a day. I did this once for 3 days for a bank that my uncle’s company did advertising for. It paid pretty well, but you have to know how to network. I only got the job because my uncle and mom (who works at my uncle’s company) managed to put in a good word for me.

I used to be a product demonstrator for a company called SPi (formerly, Mass Connections). They hired people to promote products in a store like Target or Wal-Mart and you got paid $65 for working 11-4. It was pretty good money. Unfortunately, I was lost when they converted to a new system and they wanted me to start all over again, and I decided to part ways with them. I am now employed as a contract worker for Sunflower Group. I’ve only done one event with them, but that is because I am an EMHC at Church for the 11am Mass and the only events I have been accepted for are on Sundays. You might want to check into them or Barry Promotions.

I also work as an Expeditor on ChaCha which is a service for people who use cell phones to send in questions and I route their questions by either Quick Answers or sending them on to a Generalist/Specialist. If you are an Expeditor, you get paid 0.02, and if you are a GE/SP you get paid anywhere from 0.10-0.20 per question depending on which category the question falls in. To get started, you have to take a simple test and then the Headquarters email you back a few days later to say if you passed or not. If you follow the directions, there is no reason why you shouldn’t pass. Let me know if you are interested in doing this as I get a bonus for everyone I refer who passes the test. I will send you a link. 👍

As for the medical question, I would think that a managed mental condition would be the topper, but I have been wrong several times in the past. Many orders have turned me down because I have depression and have to take medicine for the rest of my life. I really hope the SsEW don’t, but if they do, I’ll just have to resign myself to the fact that God is not calling me there. I have the Religious Sisters of Mercy as a backup, too. 🙂

I have a friend of a friend with a 1 1/2 year old girl that I MIGHT be asked to babysit. We’ll see if that happens. I’ve never babysat before, but I would like to try it.

I’m thinking of contacting a Priest friend of a friend, too, and see it he knows of anything.

How much do people tend to make with that job where you are paid per question? What are the working hours like?

For how much you make, it all depends on how long you work. You could make a few dollars or you could make twenty if you are really dedicated to staying online for a few hours everyday. The working hours are up to you. You can go on whenever you feel like it. There are no set hours at all, and, best of all, they give bonuses on the weekend if you answer a certain amount of questions. I’ve been doing it since October 2010 and I’ve made some good gas money that way. 🙂

If you are talking about the Religious Sisters of Mercy, no, it doesn’t reflect on them. They were both started in the charism of Venerable Catherine McAuley, but they are not related orders. I really think it reflects on the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, though, since they are allowing an excommunicated Sister to continue to live and work at the convent. 😦

I’m a little unsure what you mean here. Excommunication is medicinal in nature, not punitive. The sister’s religious institute would not be acting either charitably or in accordance with canon law to evict her because she has been excommunicated.

It continues to be their responsibility to house her and offer reasonable care, not least in the hope that she may repent and have the excommunication lifted. But without prejudice to that, the excommunication does not lead to suspension of the obligations and privileges of consecrated life. The sister still has to work and the institute still has to provide for her: the excommunication doesn’t give either of them a free pass. 🤷
