Interesting thread! I think its very beautiful how Our Lord thirsts for us despite our poor efforts to be holy- or even for those who have yet made no efforts. He always hopes. I try to share about Him with people who might be interested and I joined the Legion of Mary to do this through and with His Blessed Mother 🙂 it’s focused on personal holiness and evangelization.

I would have to disagree with what the priest has told you. Your original direction is much better. 👍
There is something to be said about the truth that we have our being in God (The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit there is a transformation taking place that we become like Jesus, so both views are right.

Well actually it depends. To share the joy of the Lord goes on different levels for different souls. Some souls are more disposed to hear of God. To these people I share my relationship with God to them–his favors, his counsels, his ways…my experiences with Him. For persons who are not so disposed/ dont have the experiences yet (for instance, non-practicing christians, burdened persons, atheist, withdrawn etc.) I dont talk of the intimacy I have with Jesus nor do I proselytize…the best way is to Witness (model oneself as a christian) and little by little share stories about our Lord…and if they are willing more to listen…I share intimately my faith to them. This is based on my experience.

I have experiences with people, that the more I talk about my faith the more they resist…Until I found out that these people doesn’t need yet my sermons but my listening ears and heart. I try to learn people’s stories first…and from there I may introduce Jesus with them.

I think you are right about that.

There are people of get drunk and say “I didn’t hurt anyone”. Or they loaf on the job and say “well everyone does it”. Or they only care about what they do on the weekends and not about the family. I have my doubts whether good example reaches them or anything else for that matter.

Then there are others who do see sin and do make some effort at remorse. But they don’t put a lot of time into it.

I have come to the conclusion that they are blind and not much will affect them to change. So the best thing to do is to give them the miraculous medal to wear, or the green scapular, and then pray for them each and every day and consecrate them to the immmaculate heart of Mary. Mary will thaw them out little bit at a time. And before long they won’t know how they got where they are. Mary always brings them to her son in her own way and time.

Yes…sharing the gospel requires so much patience and understanding of different persons. I see these different persons in the recollections I give…I see that the more the heart and mind are closed, the harder a person would understand anything at all…and much sadder the lesser they can receive God’s grace. If the person’s severely locked, this soul must have been severely wounded/unloved which is not treatable by mere words/counsels.I also see that others arejust plainly immature (e.g they still fancy the world and all and dont see much the importance of faith or of God… One of the best way to deal with them, especially the young, is to show God through their culture ( I mean like what St Paul did). I also see that some are immensely given the gift of faith (and I am really amazed by this one). I used to think one must be very versed with the scripture (which is ofcourse a good thing) but actually in preaching—it is really love which one should master and practice…

Yes prayers prayers prayers…and endless prayers!

Let us not limit ourselves to defending the faith.
Let us nurse in our hearts a love without limits for our neighbors, even if they are only a stranger, a different race, or even an enemy of God.
Let us hate evil, sin, and even the least sin.
Let us have an eagerness for the salvation and sactification of our brothers and sisters because we all have the same heavenly Mother, the same Father, and elder brother, Jesus.

What human loves Jesus more perfectly than his Mother?
Total Consecration to the Immaculate Virgin is loving Christ with her heart.
