This was the reason St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal founded the Visitation Order: to give God daughters of prayer and souls worthy of serving and adoring him.
St. Francis hand-wrote the Constitutions of the order, and gave them to St. Jane for all who would follow in her footsteps.
These two saintly founders began this order in Annecy, France in 1610, and even when the order began in Toledo, OH in the fifteenth century, their mission remains unchanged!
As their bishop said, “the sisters should remain upon the mountain-top in prayer and sacrifice pleading for the salvation of souls, particularly those of the diocese, clergy, religious and laity.”toledovisitation.org/history.htm
