I think that when she avoided talking to your mother at the funeral it was pretty clear that she did not want to be forgiven. Funerals are where you are faced with how important it is to set things right. If there truly was no opportunity when there, that is a bit different.

Thanks again to all who responded.

To the person who asked why I would be interested in trying to connect with people who offend my Mom, well, as a Christian, I try to err on the side of mercy. Even my Mom, the party who was offended, emphasizes that and she taught me that. But Jesus does not want us to be doormats either! Sometimes there is gray area between turning the other cheek and being a doormat and I think that is where we have to invoke the Holy Spirit to guide our discerning minds. Thanks again. Perhaps if you wouldn’t mind, please pray for a holy marriage for my fiancee and I and for all engaged couples to keep God in the center of their marriage.

I think that almost every family has some underlying rift going on so you are not alone. In my family, my father and his brother owned a family business but they strongly disliked each other and hardly ever spoke to each other. This caused a separation between cousins who actually liked each other. Although we did invite them to our weddings we did not invite them to my parents 50th anniversary party. I found out years later that they were hurt although they understood why they were not invited. I think that you should discuss this with your mother and get her opinion. If you do decide to invite them I would seat them far away from your mother and uncle and hopefully that will work out.
