To Kneel or Not to Kneel

Kneel, don’t kneel, bow, don’t bow…wow. I personally don’t care what the bishop directs. I kneel in respect for our Lord, not because it’s part of some musical chairs arrangement. In my church, there are no kneelers and the few of us who do kneel do so at the risk of getting accidently poked in the head by the person standing next to us. I think it is so very sad that it has come to this when Catholics actually disagree with one another as to how they worship our Lord. Shame on Vatican II for bringing this about.😦

That is the question.

Here in the Diocese of Raleigh, the Bishop has requested that we remain standing during the time that people are receiving communion.

We do not kneel after the Agnus Dei, and we sit down again only when the priest is seated after the distribution of communion is complete.

This is relatively new in this diocese, and I have never seen anything like it in the many other dioceses that my travels have taken me to over the past few decades.

Is this practice completely off the wall, or is our Bishop just ahead of the curve as the Church moves back toward some ancient practice?

What does the Vatican want in this regard?
Did he really? Under our last Bishop people always just stood, but I didn’t know that our new one released something saying we all have to stand.

Personally, I kneel after communion. Shhhh don’t tell him.

Our Bishop is quite orthodox, so I wouldn’t worry too much. In fact, this Sunday he is sitting in choir for a Tridentine Mass.

I was wondering how you all felt about the Daily and Sunday Masses broadcasted on EWTN.

In reference to V2 and the Novus Ordo and such.

I am not looking for a comparison to the Tridentine (nothing compares for me personally, but I fully understand the reasons for the vernacular), or an SSPX treatise.

I just believe that the friars have found a very Mertonian type of interpretation of the Novus Ordo.

Orthodox, liturgically correct, yet accessible to the masses.

There is a simplistic (even holy) beauty to their Masses. To me they just look…Catholic!

Also, please stay on subject, I know that EWTN is either loved or laughed at. Please keep that opinion to yourself (Mother Angelica, EWTN, OLAM, MFVA & PCPA’s can be discussed and debated elsewhere).

What do you all think?
