To leave the Catholic faith to live a longer life

I have one of my best friends who was diagnosed with a rare terminal lung disease called LAM for short. She was given 5 to 10 years to live at the age of 26. She has been catholic all her life, went to a catholic school, married in the church, and taught our youth group at our church. She has felt in the last month that if she does not do something soon, she is going to die in the next 6 months. A woman came to her crying telling her that she is healed if she would have a better spiritual relationship with God. She said she started praying more and this woman has been to her house several times. Another friend asked her to go to a non denominational bible study. The man that spoke had called her out in the middle of the room and said that that day was for her. They prayed over her, and she said she felt at peace. Long story short, the man and woman do not know each other, but are telling her that she will live a long life, be healed, have another baby girl (which the doctors told her she would put her life at risk if she got pregnant) be a testimony to the world that God healed her, and that her and her husband are to start a new church which will all be revealed in the next few weeks. I know she wants to live a longer life, be with her husband and 2 sons and have a purpose. The one thing she has to do to get all this is leave her Catholic Faith??? She cried when she told me that, but these people are telling her she can not cast a larger net in the catholic church to people who are broken and need to be healed. I am very scared for her because if she denounces her catholic faith, and she passes away, the devil has won. I don’t know what to tell her. They have told her not to tell anyone until it all has been revealed to her. They told her she will lose friends and family over it, that the devil will physically attack her and they have not gone to mass in 2 weeks. She is missing out on the eucharist which is the true body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without the eucharist, she will be weak and follow these people. Can anyone give me advice? We are going to talk to her tomorrow, thanks!
 
Sounds like she is being manipulated by Satan to abandon the Church. It takes a real evil person to prey upon the sick and the desperate like that… I wish I could help more, but I’ll be praying.
 
I’m not sure what to tell you as advise for your friend.

One thing I do know though - If she wants to live the longest life, eternal life, she needs to cling to God, and not to these people telling her to abandon her catholic faith in order to get healed. Christ tells us that that, " whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."(Mt 16:25)

If these people were truly of God, then they would recognize that Catholics are Christians and work with her in this frame. They would offer healing prayer for her without such rediculous conditions.
That they do not recognize this means that they are false prophets.

Your friend wishes to cling to life and that is good, but it is not the best. The best is to Cling to God, and to her faith.

Finally - a prayer.
Heavenly Father. Be with your daughter in her trial. Give her the grace and strength to resist these temptations to leave your fold for these false promises. Send your Holy Spirit to Mel so that your wisdom will prevail and that he have the words of comfort and encouragement that your daughter needs now.
We ask this in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Talk about “…Satan and all of his empty promises”! although she doesn`t realise that.
 
You need to intercede mightily for her.

Speak to her about getting anointed by her Priest – IT WORKS! And this is life and death! May God give you the courage to strongly ask her to go to Mass (in love, of course).

And I know people like those who are attacking her faith. They’ve full of it. Well-intentioned, but full of it, nontheless. I used to be a Pentecostal, I should know.

she is making the classic mistake of valuing life on earth higher than eternal life, reminder of that fact, and that Jesus alone heals, and anyone who promises to heal her on their own merit is lying. Ask her to order her priorities and help her get to a priest who will help her do this.
 
Call her parish priest and tell him this story. He will speak with her.

Yes satan is bringing her to Bible study classes. Wow, seems like satan isn’t so bad after all.

Satan can very easily “bring her” to bible study classes.
Did satan not tempt Jesus Himself by quoting Scripture?

The telling point is not the “bible study” but who is doing the bible study and what are they teaching.

It is obvious that these people believe that Catholics are not Christian. That Catholicism is some sort of evil cult that this girl must leave in order to be “healed” of her temporal disease. But these people are deluded by the evil one.
A true Christian recognizes their Christian Brothers in Love. Not recognizing this is a sure sign something is very wrong.

you can tell your friend after you pray for her, to leave the Catholic church would be to *shorten *her life! we live for eternity.
if your friend can be swayed this way, then she is in great need of true spiritual direction, she needs to know why she is Catholic, and why the Catholic church is the one true church,
of course you can’t force anything on her, but if you can get her to talk to a priest, that might help a great deal,

if she wants a true cure, suggest going to the basilica of the Immaculate Conception at Lourdes to be bathed in the miraculous curing waters,
unless that is a trip they can’t afford…but atleast let her know that the Catholic church heals us to, and there have been more cures of body and soul(millions) in the catholic church than in any other religion,
but also let her know, the devil has powers to, although only insofar as God allows, and if she trusts in herself or these people instead of trusting in God and His warnings, then she can only be going down the wrong path…
she has to ask herself, “Am i doing what God wants? or only what i want…”

i do have a few articles and online books you can look through to give you some ideas or help you to help her,
but even if nothing you say or do helps her now, do not give up hope, God may let her go now only to show her that without Him and His church she cannot have true peace and joy, or maybe for some other unforeseen reason,
but above all, pray for her and pray that God will give you the grace to help her, especially pray the rosary, which alone is enough to convert even the most hardened hearts,

You need to let her priest know what is happening and stay on top of the situation. Try to get her to understand that to live without the Holy Eucharist is spiritual death. Jesus was clear on confessing by mouth and the remembrance of his body and blood. Where can she get these sacraments but from her church. She is scared and vulnerable and really needs your support. Try not to judge those that are misleading her as they may be sincere in their faith as you are in yours. Prayer is powerful and I believe a prayer meeting of your own would help her immensely. Indeed, Satan is at work here. He can and has used even the Scriptures to tempt and mislead. We see that principle at work in every raving anti-Catholic fundamentalist thumping his man-distorted Bible.

I pray for her and everyone who is in the sway of cults and heretics.

Long human life is a perception. Who’s to say if the illness will be “cured” then followed by a deadly heart attack the next day? In the context of eternity human life isn’t even a grain of sand in a universe of sand. I would never trade eternity for a grain of sand.

From the Cathechism – Hope: 1817 Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful."84 “The Holy Spirit . . . he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.”

Put Faith and Hope in Jesus and the Church He created for us: The Catholic Church.

Consult a priest or even the diocesan Bishop’s office for a recommendation for spiritual direction.

Christ gave us one Church through which He guides us and sees to the transmission of His teachings. Some rogue “church” started by someone under the sway of an anti-Catholic nutjob can’t even be counted on to lead people to the genuine Christ instead of a phony one.

We are told that there will be many false Christs and false preachers. This crank sounds like just that.
 
Is there any money involved in this? It sounds like a con to me.
