How did you meet your Catholic spouse? Any stories of praying for them?

I met my wife in undergraduate school. We were both exclusively involved in another serious relationship. We became close friends and shared troubles and successes. Grew into a closer relationship and the significant others fell away.

Praying for them? Well, not praying to God for a spouse. I did pray for her faith, and resolution of problems in her relationship. Thinking about that, maybe that’s how God answered those prayers.

I met him when he moved into the apartment nextdoor. As for praying for him, I prayed and prayed he would come into the church, which he did after about 2 years of marriage. Married for 7 years now with 4 kids.

I met my wife in the course of posting in this website. She asked a question, I answered it. We got chatting.
I was actually discerning religious life at the time and not really looking for a wife. But we got on really well and I asked her to marry me.

I had not been praying specifically for a spouse, more for my vocation. But when I met her I knew that she was “the one”.

For our first “date” we did a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Aglona’s shrine in Latvia.

My wife and I met at a party our freshman year of college and dated for ~2 years before getting engaged. We’ve been married almost 15 years and together about 19. No stories of praying for her specifically.

Caveat: I’m not Catholic, so that wasn’t a deal breaker for her.

Well, its a long story how we came to go out on a first date. But, where we formally met was in classes preparing for Confirmation during our junior year of high school in 1987. Today I pray for her regularly as I know she does for me also. Watching her pray the rosary on the patio is one of the most calming feelings for me. In fact she’s going outside now, think I will join her. Great thread. Peace be with you

My wife and I met completely by chance, far from home, though we discovered that we lived within an hour drive of each other. We began dating, took some wrong turns along the way, and went through some difficulties, but eventually got married. She was not Catholic, but was very open to the Catholic faith, and she converted around the time of our marriage. Her conversion served as a catalyst for a great awakening of my faith as well. We have been happily married for many years, and God has blessed us with four children.

Fourth grade, Catholic elementary school.
After we left that school, we did not see each other for 40 years 🙂
I pray for him every day, and often for myself.
We both pray to God to give Him thanks for reconnecting us!
