Complete the sentence. “To me, Catholicism is like___”

To me, Catholicism is like a treasure chest. You open the chest and there are so many wonderful things inside that you can contemplate on. Then, you notice, among the treasures, another chest. You open it and there bounds out even more treasures, and buried in that is another chest, it opens with more and more treasures. However, there is always one more chest to open with more treasures. You could spend all of your life studying the faith and you would always discover new and endless treasures in the Church.

I guess that is one way of seeing it, but I might add that each chest has what we don’t know however what was in them would have to b either Godly, say fine things God gives, or, those things that go wrong at times. or evil. I would hope that it was all good.

You mean you find rubies, diamonds and all kinds of precious jewels? Wow, I’d like to ascribe to your brand of Catholicism. I’d be rich in no time. 😉

I very much like the treasure chest analogy. There are so many treasures in our faith. Mass. Daily Mass. Confession. Adoration. The Eucharist. The Divine Mercy Chaplet. Liturgy of the Hours. Scripture. Saints. The Easter Triduum. Lent. Holy Week. Advent.

I could go on and on. But there are so many riches and so many waiting to be discovered. Pearls of great value?

…family. Layers of mothers, and fathers, siblings. And like family, you don’t get to choose them; you’re stuck with them warts, sins and all.

my lifeline.

not in a desperate way, but in a way that it gives me life. I’m so grateful.

Yes wouldn’t it be so good to throw all our humanness away leave our wants desires and inhibitions behind and take the jewels mentioned above.Lord what better cross what better life what better understanding of God and His heart would we have to throw our human jewels away and grasp YOU.

Catholicism is something I misunderstood for many years. It’s something I should have known better. Lord, help me truly forget about past things that make no sense to me and appear irreconcilable. I know with You all things are possible, I also know priorities in life are far more important. I pray someday to learn how to communicate because so oft it seems I speak a foreign language because nothing is understood how I intended my words to be. But pruning is a good and needed thing, I know this.

Thank You Jesus!

Beattitudes, do unto others, I hope to find the music to that hymn, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers. Lord, in spite of circumstance, hold me close and keep leading me forward to where You want me to be. Amen!
