To My Catholic Friends

Well; here we are, nearing the end of another year, and you guys have put up with me again! I have to say that I am impressed with your enormous patience!

But, I also have to say that I am even more impressed by a grade 6 girl, from a Catholic school in our neighborhood. It seems that this school, both teachers and students made a special effort to handmake Christmas cards, and color them by hand, and then hand deliver them to nearby homes. I thought this was a really great thing for the students to be taught at this age; reaching out to the community to encourage and uplift others.

Here is a picture of the front of the card that we got:

On the inside of the card, the following was hand-written:
“In big ways, and small ways,
At Christmas and always,
may you know
His wonderful blessings!”

Well said, and well done! I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the “wonderful blessings” that this little girl was referring to! This is post #2224 for me, and I believe we are entering into year 5 of me being on this forum! LOL, quite an accomplishment for a Protestant I guess!

But, actually, I don’t think it’s anything I did. I think it is whatever that spirit is in the little girl who sent us that card; for this is the Spirit of The Word that we all have in common. Jesus was born, so that we could be born again! PTL!

Let us learn from children whom Jesus has touched, and share this with each other in the New Year! 👍

First of all I want to thank you for sharing the story and how nice to know that a little girl may know what she learned from that Catholic School. Yes, we celebrate Christmas to mark the day as the birth of our Lord.

Secondly, I want to wish you and your family a blessed Christmas, to be joyous and merry.

Thirdly, I want to share you also a story that one of you friends at Seventh Day Adventist told my wife one day how relieved they are during Christmas not to decorate and celebrate not wasting time and money because they do not believe that Christ was really born on Dec. 25. My colleague at work also said the same thing although he was nice to celebrate with us for a party. We were puzzled by the gestures although we just shrugged it off by respecting one’s belief.

This is why I really appreciate your post because at least you understand what a “celebration” means.

I have heard similar stories - and not just with Adventists; but I do know some of “us” do get carried away with condemning those who see “Christmas” differently than others. Sometimes, though, you just can’t win. The other day I had to give one of the “brethren” a polite reminder that sometimes those of us who do celebrate Christmas, and have a tree, and all, well; we can sometimes be way too hard on those frowning few who do not approve of Christmas, or Christmas trees. I certainly do appreciate the well wishes here, and the spirit in which they are given. I have a video that I watch every Christmas about Mary and the birth of Christ. I have no trouble celebrating this amazing event!
