To My Catholic Friends

Traditionally, Friends haves shied away from Xmas celebrations. Non-programmed meetings typically do not have a Xmas tree nor are there “Christmas celebrations”…some Friends may gather at a specific time to sing Xmas carols…but typically Xmas celebrations are not a focus…I used to find myself feeling like a “Scrooge” as I too find Christmas displays at Meeting incongruent and out of place…I have mellowed in my old age…

Javl! How are you? Long time - “no see!” Thanks for the well wishes. I will look forward to another year on the forum and hearing from you once in a while!
 
You as well as everyone here on the CAF have a very blessed Christmas.
 
My Christian brother, I can’t say I know a whopping # of SDAs outside cyberspace but the ones I do know celebrate as well. I even recall one of my friends speaking about attending Christmas Eve candlelight services at her SDA church in yrs past. A most blessed Christmas Sabbath to you (Christmas is on the 7th Day Sabbath this yr! 👍) And to all here on CAF a most blessed, Merry Christmas. May His peace and blessings be with each of you throughout the new yr.

And in the coming days as we go forth remembering His birth, regardless of the labels attached to our particular churches, let us remember as well the unity in Him in which we Christians share. And indeed strive in our communion to glorify His name. As it is He who can break down walls. And afterall it is this unity :grouphug: which is far greater than any differences any of us might have. Peace.

Hello my friend! Yes, it has been a long time. I also hope to see you and dialog with you again this coming year, but this time without the hair-pulling ( I don’t have any left to pull )!

Ha ha! I am running out of hair to pull too, but I still have a little! 👍

Over 2000 years ago, in the little town of Bethlehem, a child was born to a peasant girl and her husband. While children are born by perhaps the millions daily, this was no normal delivery. So, in the midst of the hustle and bustle, long lines, twinkling lights, and food, take a moment to remember that little boy born so long ago, and what His birth has produced for you. Give something to someone, just because, with no expectation of payback or recognition! Merry Christmas to ALL my brothers and sisters in Christ; catholic, Protestant or whatever!👍

It is a time to set aside differences, and show the world(especially the non believers) the unity of Christ’s church, and the far-reaching love of God. I had to share this. It is an Eastern Icon. I think it is beautiful and shows both the poverty of Christ and the Holy Family as well as the Royalty of God. I have a love for the way icons gave common people who most often could not read messages back in the day. But I wanted to share this and give everyone another Merry Christmas.

Thankyou for sharing this! I can appreciate this symbolism that you speak of. God has many ways to speak to “common people” today - it is encouraging to dwell on that thought this christmas season.

Howdy Javl! May I please ask what the two “shalom” words mean in this post? The one is in your signature; but I am now also curious about the other one too.
