Letter from Bishop James S. Wall

“Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:20)
A priest is one who teaches.

A priest is a man who has received a special character from God at his ordination that conforms him to Christ in a unique way. Upon reception of this character, he is called not to live for himself, rather for Christ who has suffered and died for him and commissioned him to teach, govern, and sanctify in the name of the Church.

So you are saying that this Roman Catholic bishop is mistaken?
Yes, these things a priest can do, by the commission of the bishop, but never on his own authority.

Okay. Now we are getting somewhere. Now, if a priest teaches wrong–is he in disobedience to his bishop–or did the bisshop give him the wrong teaching?

If a priest teaches wrongly, it’s most likely because he is a Jesuit.

OK. REALLY BAD JOKE! :o

Aaaaanyway, if a priest teaches wrongly, it could be for both reasons. I am more likely to believe that it is in disobedience to his bishop, rather than the bishop being wrong. But, Like I said, both scenarios are possible.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I must say–that’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen here in a while.

I think I will exit this thread on that note.

Prayers and blesssings.
