And you can post all you want and it will not change the faith or beliefs on any LDS member here. So, again, why all the effort on your part? And as far as our prophets speaking for themselves, we would greatly appreciate that. And we will let your pope speak for himself and all catholics - how about that? He is your leader just as Thomas Monson is our leader and we should at least respect the other’s choice of who they follow. Arrogance and anger will get you nowhere.

This is a Catholic board. I am informing. And yes, I have posted how your prophets speak for themselves…and certainly not for God

lol…it is not hard at all…and anytime a Mormon tells me I am failing at this, it means I am succeeding. If I was not doing any harm, you would not give me the time of day.
You are so wrong. You are doing harm - to yourself - by being this sarcastic and angry about the LDS church and what we believe. And we give you the time of day because we do not want honest seekers of truth to think that you are the holder of that truth. Where did you get the idea that being told you are failing means you are succeeding? I will continue to pray for you that that thorn does come out of your paw…I do not care if you believe what I believe - that is not important. What is important is that you take a look at your own beliefs and verify that your behavior here is in line with what YOUR church and YOUR faith teaches. If it is not, then please take a second look.

Here is the problem though with Mormons: even if we concede to ignore the man who is not really a prophet and The Seer publication all the rest of the excerpts are still ugly. Smith said that every sermon he delievered was devoid of error. Heck the Mormons sent my mother, who has been a Catholic for a while now, a book entitled Gospel Principles that claims Jesus and Satan are spiritual brothers. Or that all men can become gods. Why don’t we discuss those doctrines?

You are right about one thing; this is a catholic board. Do not forget, however, that this is the “non catholic religions” section. 😃

Not harming myself at all. I post so people unaware of Mormons know the truth about it’s false prophets, false gods and heretical teaching. My church teaches that we need to be vigilant against false prophets like Joe. I am doing God’s work. Thanks

And you give me the time of day because you know I am right. There is no thorn my paw. There is joy in my heart due to me fulfilling my calling.

Yep. A place for us to teach about false churches like the lds church

You know why Mormons have never found Nephites?

Answer - They keep digging in the wrong place

2 Machabees 1:36
And Nehemias called this place Nephthar, which is interpreted purification. But many call it Nephi.

Do not tell me Smith did not have access to a Catholic Bible

These doctrines have been and are being discussed (see the similarities thread) you can look back or wait around the come up often.🙂 Welcome.

oh…we have…a lot. Mormons generally try to dismiss, or make excuses, or say that when Joe said stuff like this, he was NOT talking as a prophet…they invent humorous ways to stick their heads in the sand all the time

I am willing to concede to Mormons that these statements do not necessarily reflect the doctrine of the Mormon Church, especially the quotations attributed to Brigham Young. The problem of course is their church insists upon the veracity of the Book of Mormon which has been shown over and over again to be false.

I am willing to concede that much of it may not be doctrine NOW. The problem Mormons have is that when they claim their “prophets” speak face-to-face with God, you expect them to know the truth. They don’t speak to God, God does not speak to them. That is why this kind of garbage flows out of their mouths.

I, for one, will always hold to a higher standard someone who says thay have direct dialogues and discussions with God. One LDS prophet, I believe it was Kimball, said he and Jesus walked the halls of LDS headquarters together, talking like you and I would talk.

If they are truly talking to God, they would not come up with such bunk as Adam/God, the racist comments, the stuff about men on the moon, being fooled by Mark Hoffman, etc.

I was a Mormon, married to a Mormon…what Sir Thomas wrote is correct and is written as words from your prophets exception being the one quote…I know a great deal about Brigham Young’s writings and they were included…but it seems when they are outdate…such as blacks holding the priesthood…well they are changed…

The Pope is the Guardian of Catholic Doctrine…that his job…it is also to be the spiritual leader for all Catholics…his personal opinions are just that and cannot and should not conflict with the teachings of the Church.

To compare the LDS president (prophet) with the Pope…well it just doesn’t work.

And yes I an a Catholic now…and yes I learned the Catholic Church History and yes I read all that I can…and no no one tells not to inquire about the teachings of the RC Church…

These things I was told as a Mormon…don’t inquire…

SirThomasMore,

I previously wrote:
Giving you the benefit of the doubt, and presuming that you cut and pasted that stuff without realising the above two items were in it: are you now prepared to demonstrate your good faith by removing them?
And you responded:
wow…I don;t blame you for deflecting from the stuff by “prophets”…but, you can post all you want, I will let your “prophets” speak for themselves.
So I take it the answer is No, you’re not prepared to demonstrate your good faith.

I’m glad we cleared that up.

Pahoran

Really?

That’s strange.

I was baptised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1965. I have never been told “Don’t inquire.” Never.

I have never read “Don’t inquire” in any Church publication or periodical. Never.

I have never heard “Don’t inquire” from any pulpit in any branch, ward or stake where I have lived or visited. I have never heard it from the pulpit of General Conference. I have never heard it in any of the thousands of classroom discussions I have participated in. Never.

But I have constantly heard, from all of those sources, continuous encouragement to continue to learn and grow in knowledge, to expand my horizons and study as much as I can, both from the Scriptures and “out of the best books.” Constantly.

So Stormy, this is a call for references: can you support your characterisation of the Church of Jesus Christ from any LDS sources? This seems like a reasonable request to me, that an LDS position should be supportable from LDS sources.

Pahoran

I am a reference, Stormy. When I began asking questions that stemmed from my studies, I was told to not ask questions. I was told to just have faith. What you say is true, Stormy.

Call for references, please: in what Church publications can I read this alleged teaching?

Because, you see, I’ve never been able to find it. Never.

That’s not to say I’ve never heard it; I’ve heard it frequently.

But never from any LDS source.

Funny, that.

I’m just thinking Who a Christian adheres to is Christ. Truth itself is a Person. Not an ideology or sentimentalism. Every individual can read the Word of God in the Bible, pray and discern how God is guiding them and where He is guiding them to. Asking God to always guide you to Him, and to protect you from what is false is necessary in this world, as there is a lot of false in the world, masquerading as truth.

My sons are LDS and they refuse to even look at anything that they consider anti-mormom. The church may not teach members to not to inquire, but it makes sure they hide behide the LDS source dodge. They believe it can’t be true because it didn’t come from a blessed LDS source.

As I have said before, the church teaches a ‘victim’ mentality. Everyone is out to get them so they can dismiss any evidence that challenges their faith. The truth is the truth is the truth. Unless is comes from a non-LDS source.
