To speak to an 11 year old boy

My 11 year old son has been brought up by my wife and I as a Baptist. I have converted to Catholicism this year, and my son is bright enough to have taken an interest. In fact he already uses a Catholic prayer app on his iPod, and has very happily taken to praying using sacramentals including the Rosary (yippee). He has also asked really intelligent questions about whether one can pray to Saints and so on, and has been quite happy with reasonably detailed answers.

I would like to introduce him to more Catholic teaching in a gentle way, without dissing our “separated brethren”, but at the same time helping open his eyes to the depth and richness of Catholic heritage. He already loves classical music (which is a problem - our Baptist church has excellent music, and he is in the music group there - singing and playing piano. Our Catholic church has (even being polite) absolutely horrendous music and even worse singing).

Any recommendations of reading, websites, and so on I can point him to?
 
Well there is this website here, which he could go to on his iPad.
Also, you could look around, and see if you can find a recording of the Holy Father’s visit to Westminster Cathedral, and show it to him. If that doesn’t attract him I don’t know what will, since you said he enjoys classical music.

Or you could also get him a Missal for children, or an illustrated bible or prayerbook. Perhaps the images will spark his interest even more? Or the language and wording of the prayers and text?

Also, tell him stories of the saints - St George, St Patrick, St Margaret Mary Alacoque, St John Bosco all have interesting stories. Maybe he’ll pick up a devotion to them.

God Bless him! He’s already praying the most Holy Rosary, to our Blessed Mother! She’ll bring him to Our Lord without a doubt!
