To the Muslim Members of this Forum

I am dismayed by the fact that so many Muslim members have left this forum. When I joined there were at least half a dozen Muslims who posted almost daily and several more on a regular basis, now it seems r.gonzales and Faith101 (sometimes jcaz; I hope you come back soon Jonathan!) are the only ones who still post on a regular basis. Thank you all, and please encourage any like-minded friends to join and post here as well. I enjoy learning and discussing and when it comes to Islam I like getting the Muslim perspective. I may not always agree with you, but without your participation there can be no inter-faith dialogue.
(OK, so I’m selfish! But it’s hard to discuss when there is no one to discuss with! )

The reason I left this forum was users like discipleofJesus and Booklover, who were not interested in any real dialogue or understanding, and who had no actual curiousity, but simply wished to use this forum to trash Islam and Muslims up and down in one-way, flaming, trolling fashion when and wherever possible.

There were respectful members who wanted to discuss in an honest fashion, such as yourself, but they were the minority. And after getting tired of games of oneupsmanship, and all the disruptions, I basically decided that I wasn’t going to be a troll fisher, and that the majority of users posting and commenting about Islam/Muslims on this forum were not really genuinely interested (except in cheap insults). I just figured the few who actually were would eventually make it to a Muslim site to ask their questions, rather than here.

I can certainly understand your reasoning. It is unfortunate when anyone acts in such a manner as to hinder discussion. We have witnessed this behavior from members of different faiths on this forum and while our faiths are incredibly important to us, we need to be respectful of the faith of others if we personally agree or not, but I am preaching to the choir. I hope you will once again find this forum to have an environment conducive to discussion.

I have a hard enough time keeping track of my passwords and user Ids here at work, hence the totally un-imaginative user name here! I’m not sure I can handle another site! If you have a recommendation for an Islamic site, I will try and check it out sometime God willing. I wish to learn not to argue or to play one-upmanship, so be kind and recommend a site were interfaith dialogue is the norm. Thanks!

discipleofjesus and booklover were good posters. BTW, other George Water’s type also alot here. so please stay.

I think it’s up to you. You can stay or not. But I believe, if you think that some people make statements which is not right in your opinion, you can rebute them.
I can say, that even some of the members are not very charitable (including myself) but we try to have a basis or a logic, and not only spreading rubbish talks.
So I don’t see there’s a problem with that. You are encourage to ask about other religions too.
