…Because we may all be surprised…

IF you feel you need to clarify, please do not hesitate. I apologize for not being able to be more explicit.

In all honesty I pray almost exclusively to the Father.
I do pray in Jesus name, and and working of praying the Rosary more to improve my interior life, but most times my prayers begin:
Heavenly Father thank you for this Glorious Day,
All the Blessings you’ve bestowed on us,
and the opportunity to serve you.

I might go on from there in many directions.

Should be an interesting poll

Peace
James

I pray to the “God Who is there.”…to the “One Who was revealed in Jesus of Nazareth.”…the “The Light beyond Limitless Light”…“The God of my Understanding”…“Lord”…“Great Friend”…“Master”…“Spirit Who is within me.”…“Depth and Silence”…but mostly “Father”

Generally, it is to the Father. I do pray to the SOn and the Holy SPirirt some. I would die if it wasn’t for the intercession of the saints.

To the Trinity, the Church Triumphant, especially the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and all the incredible saints who give us inspiration in how to live our lives for God; and the Church Suffering. . .the latter in that I pray both for the release of the souls in purgatory as well as asking their prayers for those of us on earth. I had read recently (probably on the forums) that while those in purgatory cannot pray for themselves they can pray for others, and so asking for their prayers allows them to basically give the only thing that they can give. . .which in the midst of their suffering can give them --in a sense–great joy.

Hi adstrinity,

I notice you have an option “The Trinity, The Saints Triumphant and Suffering” but not one that says “The Trinity, The Saints Triumphant, Suffering, and Militant (i.e. still on earth)”. Shouldn’t people have that as an option?

You’re not allowed to make good points like that! 😛

Maybe because they do not hear our prayers in a supernatural way?

Just guessing…

Is this a trick question?

I pray “to” the Trinity. But, I ask the Saints to pray “for” me. 👍

Prayer merely means to ask… I worship only God. God is defined as the original Christians defined it…Father, Son and Holy Spirit as 3 distinct person in one God. There is only one GOD. We ask the Church Triumphant, Suffering and the Angels to pray for us…to intercede additionally on our behalf… as we also turn directly to God to ask for Him to “guide, guard and direct” us. Whether or not Protestants accept intercessory prayer is not as important as it is that their family, guardian angels and others in heaven pray for them… The Prayer of the Church is the Liturgy of the Ours. All clergy and religious constantly pray for everyone, whether wanted or not.

I put the Trinity and the Church Triumphant for who I pray to… however, I pray for the Church Suffering and the Church Militant… and world peace… (Miss Congeniality)

I pray to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Those are prayers of worship, thanks, just talking to God, and asking for help in my needs.

When I talk to the saints, I ask for their prayers and help. Any help that comes from the saints is from God, of course. They do nothing that He doesn’t permit.

The pole makes it hard for me to select option - it should’ve been checkbox, not radio button.

Well, there’s only one God, and Christians, Jews, and Muslims all pray to Him, though under different names (Jesus, YHWH, Allah), so…I’m Christian and I pray to God. I also ask for the saints and angels to pray for me to the Lord. But I don’t pray directly to them; they’re not gods.

😃
I pray to whoever is listening.
😃

I’m sorry I had only 10 options, that is the limit. It never occured to me to make this multiple choice because I thought all listed options canceled out any other option. I made a concious decision NOT to include the Church Militant because I’m talking about when it’s just you when you wake up, or go to bed, or at work, or in the car, or on your couch, or wherever; when it’s just you and crunch time, when you don’t have anybody else to ask but somebody who cannot be called except through your mind and heart, where vocalization of language is not needed.

Hey adstrinity,

Yes, I quite know what you mean about the system’s limits when making a poll – I haven’t made any recently, but I seem to recall that more than once I created a poll question that ended up being a sentence fragment, because I didn’t realize until too late that it was too long.

I think the best thing to do is to keep the official Poll Question short, but then have the full version of it in the first post of the thread, e.g. “To whom do you pray, when it’s just you and crunch time, when you don’t have anybody else to ask but somebody who cannot be called except through your mind and heart, where vocalization of language is not needed?”

I have no doubt that the Church Triumphant prays for the Church Militant, whether they here our prayers or not.

I know it doubtless sounds disrespectful to some here, but even a nontheist like me occasionally rolls through a redlight by mistake and has to hope the cop right over there is too intent on their donut or something to notice. And in those cases, I have been heards to whisper subvocally, “Bob Dobbs, now would be a really really good time to cut me some slack…”

There is only one source of Divinity in the world. That is to what I pray.
