Today at Mass...........

My 3 year old and my wife came to Mass today for the first time because my 5 year old was singing in the Choir. Anyway, my 3 yr old was getting whiny before Mass even started so she said she would take him out, I stopped her and told her that I would take him out instead. I didnt want her to miss her first time to Mass and my 8 yr old could explain Mass to her because he knows whats going on, plus I wanted her to see our son sing in the choir. After I took him out and got him to whisper, we stood in the gathering area of the church and got to stay for Mass. This is the crazy part: when the congregation kneels for the consecration, my 3 yr old instantly got down on his knees. No one else in the gathering area was on their knees and he wasnt looking thru the doors at the congregation anyways. I never really thought about it until after he stood back up and did it a second time after the congregation says “I am not worthy…”. How wild is that??? It surprised me because neither time did he see anybody else do it and he never did it any other time during Mass…maybe kids are more receptive than I think…

Wow! What an amazing and cute story! It is only through God’s grace that a child is able to do that…to recognize the awesome presence of the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

It reminds me of the story when I loaned some Catholic books to a co-worker and one of them was about the Eucharistic miracles. When she returned the book she told me that each and every night her son, who was I think 3 years old, would take that particular book from her room and would browse through it. So, even after she puts him in bed, he gets up, takes that book and she would find him browsing through it in the corner of his room
with only a night light.

Even the animals recognize the presence of Our Good Lord Jesus and they do have perfect obedience to God unlike us humans who have our own free will.

Few weeks ago I went to the Cathedral chapel to attend daily mass. I was standing close to the glass door. As I was kneeling on the marble floors, I happen to glance at something that looked like a centipede crawling on the floor in front of me. It was about an inch long with long legs making it more suspended from the floor as opposed to being closed to the ground. As soon as the consecration prayers were said and the Sacred Host was elevated the creature stopped and lowered itself very close to the ground that you couldn’t see its legs anymore and it stayed in that position motionless until the consecration prayers for the wine were finished, has become the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the chalice was lowered down and placed on the altar, only then did the creature started crawling again. The creature recognized the Creator, the presence of Our awesome God, Lord Jesus Christ, in the Holy Eucharist and the Most Precious Blood.
I shared this story with a friend later on who was not planning to go to Sunday mass that day but finally did after we talked and he called me after mass because he wanted to tell me that the opening song was about all creatures great and small giving glory to God and he thought about the story that I told him and he was so glad he did go to Sunday mass. Thanks be to God!
