Some Sunni Muslims fasting it because it represents the Jewish “Seventh day of Passover”.
Some Shia Muslims fasting it because of martyrdom of Ali’s son.
I personally fasting it today although I’m not convinced that it is the same Jewish day because they use different calendar than the Islamic one.
