i’m on pins and needles, i did go today and get bread and milk in case there is a run on that. Wait, thats when they predict a snowflake in this area…😛
 
There are scientists who believe that the earth is going to be struck by a giant asteroid (which could well bring about the end of the world) on August 26…

Over the years many events have been foretold about the end of the world.

The clues come from scripture and there are many interpretations, thus many varied events and dates predicted.

Obviously to date most have got it wrong, but there was a time when a few got it mostly right. The Founder of the Seventh Day Adventists, the Founder of the Jehovah Witnesses and the German Templar’s were all very close to the date and the predicted event, but got it just a bit wrong!

A bit wrong? The world didn’t end, so how could they have had it only a bit wrong? 😛 😃

No one knows the date and time, only God. We are to remain vigilant in faith precisely because we cannot know when God plans to bring this chapter of human history to a close. 🙂

They know they were “a bit wrong” because the Baha’i believe that Christ has already come again, reincarnating into the person “Baha’u’llah”. The SDA’s and JW’s were just off by a few years. :rolleyes:

Ah, I see. Yet another prophet proclaiming himself the savior of mankind. I rather doubt the SDAs and JWs had anything like it in mind. Jesus himself warned us against such prophets, leading people astray from the truth. But people will run after whatever tickles their ears instead of tolerating sound doctrine.

I was 65 years old on Sunday, I have cancer and I will STILL be here in 2032. I’ll only be 83!

…and probably still taking care of my elderly parents. 😉

Just a point of clarification, since I’m a bit of a stickler about language use: do those prophets proclaim themselves to be the saviors of mankind? Really?

I know of ONE guy who claimed to be Jesus Christ come again, but he got taken out by a few SWAT teams.

These other guys…what were their claims, precisely?

We were talking about only one other guy who founded the B’hai faith, and he is easily researched on line. 🙂 But all who claim to speak for God without God’s authority, who lead people away from the truth are false prophets whether they found new faiths or not.

Della - Dear Friend in God - Or it could be the views you have expressed are what Christ warned you about.

Those views Rejected all those claims and was any attempt made to see if they were true or Not?

Yes Christ Warned us of False Prophets, but Christ also told us how to Judge a True Prophet. If it was to be so easy, why warn us 😉

One can choose how they wish to do this, but to neglect to do it may be to the peril of the whole world and the world as it is today may be a result of that neglect.

Dear Della - How to Judge a Prophet is in the Bible. If they are from God they will stand by their own message and Produce many Fruits.

It is by their fruits they must be judged and not by ones current concept as how it is all supposed to be.

The claim of the Baha’i concerning a man called “Baha’u’llah” is that he is the second coming of Christ. It already happened, didn’t you know? He is actually superior to Jesus Christ, who’s time has come and passed, but there is no doubt that they claim him as a savior who will create a world run by the Universal House of Justice, a group of enlightened men, where all will live in peace and harmony. It is happening as we speak. By the way, Baha’u’llah is dead and in the ground. Jesus apparently rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, reincarnated as Baha’u’llah and then just died and was buried. Kind of a reverse reincarnation. 🤷

Jesus Christ is God’s last Word to man–his last revelation of his truth. We have no need of any others. All true prophets speak with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who cannot contradict himself. Either Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God incarnate is right or he was a liar and a fraud whom no one should follow. It’s fine for people to give us platitudes about living the natural law God implanted in all our hearts, but it’s another to call people to repentance and restoration to God’s grace, which is our only means of salvation. We are not reincarnated again and again until we get it right. We are made holy as God is holy, in the only way we can be, in and through Christ by faith working in the sacraments and good works done in love. This is reality. You are free to believe whatever you wish, of course, but only the truth sets us free and nothing else.

The end of the world will come when Christ returns. Since we cannot know when that will be all efforts to predict it are futile, at the least, and bogus nonsense, at the worst.
