You just don’t know where to find the Scriptures for Purg… st. Paul wrote Corinthians, right? Look at 1 Cor 3;13… and etc…

Jesus told parables that allude to Purg… st. Matthew 18:23… etc…

the thief on the cross? For one thing, does anyone know what the meaning of "paradise’ is?? Purg is paradise compared to this life… (from all that I’ve heard. Yes, there is terrible sufferin in the lower depths of Purg but at least one knows one is on his way to Heaven… In any case, the Catholic Church teaches that once one is baptised and if one doesn’t sin after baptism, one would (if he were to die) go straight to Heaven… What better baptism than to be in the Presence of Christ and hear him say that he is forgiven…?

So anyway… I will leave it at that…
You are too much. A Catholic priest once said that Purgatory is extremely painful and you say it is paradise compared to this life? Typical Catholic rhetoric and this is exactly what happens when you go astray from Scripture. Once again, there are only passages that Catholics twist and distort to try and get Purgatory. It isn’t real, bottom line.

so, are you Mormon NOW??
I had stopped going there quite some time ago, but never submitted a letter of resignation.

I don’t believe in the ALL or NOTHING concept, where you either go to Heaven or Hell with no inbetween states. In many Near Death Experiences, people that did not see Heaven, saw Hell, and others have experienced in between states, kinda like a purgatory, that the person had to work out their problems before they were let out of the places.

We humans don’t have all the answers of what life is like with spiritual developement in the Spirit world after mortal death.

I do know that after my death, and I have my life review at that time, that I better be able to except Christ fully, and the less sin I have at death, the easier it will be to except Christ fully at death.

you didn’t read the post very well … i said “compared to this life”… and also referred to different levels of Purgatory. the lower levels ARE very painful and probably one there would / could desire to be back on EArth… although i have never heard of a soul wanting to return to Earth, painful as Purg is… (souls in Purg have appeared to various saints…).

And the Catholic Church is the original Church founded and established by Christ Himself… She is not hte one that has gone astray… It is the Protestants who have gone astray… making up doctrines of men… The Protestant religions, the oldest ones, are only 500 yrs old at the most… The Catholic Church is 2000 yrs old…

The Catholic Church gets its teachings straight from Christ… and His Apostles…

The Protestant ones… Who knows???

The Catholic Church is the one Christ founded on Earth… Its members are not perfect (as i am sure you know 😃 ) but He promised that the very gates of Hell would NOT prevail against His Church… (St. Mt 16:18). He did not promise that the gates of Hell would not prevail against anything or anyone else… against individuals, particularly those OUTSIDE His Church…

No, only His Church can conquer Satan… totally. (and the way things are these days, i even wonder about that sometimes… just being honest…)

Anyway… have you ever thought of taking an RCIA class to learn about Catholicism? I believe ALL people should take those classes even if they dont’ want to convert… becaue there are SO many lies and distortions about the Church… I even believed some of those myself yrs ago… before i found out the truth… (got catechized)…

Also… if you have never spent time with Jesus at the Blessed Sacrament (His Real Presence inthe Church 24/7)… that is AWESOME… (i gues that goes without saying… 🙂 )… Most Catholic Churches (in the city) are open during business hours… and you don’t have to be Catholic to go be with Jesus… (that also should go without saying but i don’t knwo where you are “at” spiritually or where your knowledge is about such things… ). I go There and just sit in total silence… I find that is usually best… (“Be still and know that [He] is God”… although sometimes i break the silence with a prayer…

God bless…

Sorry, this is the old, tired only Roman Catholics g to heaven, which has been disavowed by your own church!

Also, the Orthodox would have a bone to pick with you as to who made the first changes (hint: it wasn’t the Orthodox).

in the Bible, only things necesssary for salvation, and belief in purgatory is not one of those. .
excuse me… Purg IS in the Bible… (just not the word… but) the concept of a place of purging/cleansing… and the necessity of such a thing is definitely there… You Protestants do not know scripture as well as you claim… and even if you do know it, you don’t always have the correct interpretation.

Also: belief in Purg IS neccessary… because if someone thinks that all one has to do is “believe” (mental assent) in Jesus… without the need for purging (on Earth or afterwards)… (purification) he could, conceivably, accumulate so many sins… as it were… that his soul would be too defiled to enter even Purgatory… and he would end up in Hell…

another thing to consider: someone could fall into despair, thinking he is too bad for Heaven… Without knowing about Purg… he could just give up entirely on God’s mercy… I used to kinda be there… although i never thought i was bad enough for eternal Hell…
