I was reading a book today on the Eucharist. It opened my eyes.

The author wrote that the reason God delivered Israelites from Egypt was not fundamentally so that he could make good on the covenant regarding the land deal, but so that they would be free to worship the One God.

I guess he was trying to say that the land deal was a subcomponent of his plan in order to bring about the worship (which was the primary objective of the plan).

The author mentioned that this is a common misconception. And even more so today, given media coverage of what is called Israel in the Media (the Jewish Israel as opposed to the True and/or New Israel which is the Church).

Again, the current events/news reporting are, to me, nothing more than a red herring.

I have no issue with your proposition here, but what is happening and being reported does matter. It matters to people that take another view and, most importantly, are willing to conflict over it.

Would you care to name the author and title of the book? Are you sure you are quoting him accurately? From your words here, there are grounds for suspecting that your author has fallen into the trap of believing what is sometimes called “replacement theology” or “supersessionism,” which St. Paul has explicitly denounced as false doctrine in Romans 11:28-29.

And also Romans 11-32. I think the entire chapter 11 is about Christianity versus? Judaism. I really understand from this chapter that the Apostle is talking about two parallel religions accepted by God, provided it is the actual Judaism as Jews practice it not some ideatic Judaism where we are all Jews, because he says “because He loved them for their parents.”

Christianity in the New Covenant supersedes the Old Covenant–Jews should not be Jews, but Christians, if they want to serve God in the Covenant.

It’s a book solely on the Eucharist. Yet it speaks about the covenants of
OT and NT and the fulfillment of the OT covenants. The book has nothing to
do with suppression or depression of any group–that might be in your head.

And, why do you clip out a sentence or two from a narrative that flows?

Do you mind me asking if you are a practitioner of Judaism? B/c there is a
movement amongst a segment of Jewish Americans who are trying to get
legislation passed to specifically criminalize speech towards Jews which
they consider “hate speech”. Yet, they aren’t doing the same for all
religions; only their own. I’ve witnessed their deliberations.

Are you replying to me? I am not Jewish, I believe one needs to be Christian as the New Law supersedes the Old.

Is this book you’re reading by any chance Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist?

I call what you propose a “lack of media responsibility”.

Definitely not fair and balanced.

Again, the media’s coverage takes away from the Truth. Therefore, it is a
red herring.

This spreading of distruth is responsible for a lot of Catholics leaving
the Church, in my opinion. All this fulfillment of prophecy that is
supposedly taking place, and which is so much more important than the real
truth, is misguiding people.
