I have been practicing lectio divina and I noticed today in the liturgy of the word on the www.usccb.org website there was not epistle reading. It was Wisdom. Isn’t there supposed to be a letter to the church reading and then the gospel reading? Why was it different today on a Tuesday ?
 
The epistle or second reading is normally only included on Sundays and special feasts. Ordinary weekdays are just the first reading, the psalm and the Gospel. Today’s first reading is from the book of Wisdom. I do Ignatian contemplation and normally focus on the Gospel reading of the day.
