Tom Stella - The God Instinct

[Riley259]

Has anyone ever heard of the priest Tom Stella. My “New Age” sister gave his book “The God Instinct” to my devout Catholic mother and she asked me to read it first to see what I think. I mostly skimmed the book because it was quite obvious from the first chapter that this so-called priest is essentially a heretic. He’s basically calling into question nearly every tenet of his faith and putting forth a very Eastern form of spirituality, namely, pantheism. What do other people think of this guy - I can’t believe that he’s still a priest. Why doesn’t he get excommunicated for spreading theology that not at all church approved.

Question everything…just because you question your beliefs doesn’t make it wrong, and nobody should feel guilty of doing so…if you are strong in your religious beliefs, reading other’s views and opinions won’t matter…if you’re NOT strong in your beliefs, then by questioning them, you’ll have to take a stance…
