Are you referring the the absolute certainty and undeniable reality that yoga rhymes with toga and that the word origin of tomato is derived from toga? Allow me to bend and twist reality to make my delusion conform to reality. The reasoning proceeds thusly:

-The to and a from toga combine together to create the to-a sound in tomato.
-The g in yoghurt is derived etymologically (look it up if you don’t know what it means) from the g in toga- don’t get technical. just believe it.
-Yoghurt is made from the mating of goat’s milk and bacteria. Thusly we derive the mate sound in tomato. to-mate-o
-John Belushi wore a toga. He acted in a movie that had a nun in it.
-Nun’s believe in the Trinity.
-Nun’s eat tomatoes which are related etymologically by the scientific and linguistic deduction of all deluded people.
-Therefore and so forth we come to the conclusion that scholarly conclusion that eating tomatoes soaked in yoghurt means you believe in the Trinity. Theology is easy if you only know how to think about things in the right way.

Hmm, I think I only saw the time he used the Jewish source. Probably the most memorable post I’ve seen on this forum, or possibly any forum.

Ok. does that mean that prostration means you are asserting that tomatoes are a Christian fruit? will the earth end on 12 december 2012 because killer tomatoes will eat us? i’m just so confused.

Yes, but perhaps the banana is Muslim. It does kind of look like a crescent moon. Certain bell peppers could be said to look like the sitting Buddha.
Let’s run with this!!

If we can get Tomatoes declared Christian vegetable, then think of the powerful attraction to God’s church that we could have.

No more difficult persuasion about the trinity, eucharist and Chruch - but a simple invitation to a pizza and spaghetti dinner would start our pagan friends on the right foot and bring them closer to God.

I dear say, that for our Muslim friends that vain struggles abstaining from marinera sauce cold be the all the inducement they need to finally see the truth in the Trinity.

But the crescent wasn’t originally a Muslim symbol, it has only been used by some Muslim’s for the past 600 years.

Well, I’ve actually seen arguments that apples are Wiccan because the inside forms a five-pointed star if you cut them right, as in this picture: religionnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/apple-seeds-pentacle.jpg

That said, tomatoes were actually avoided by Christians for the longest time because it was believed they were poisonous (they are members of the nightshade family) but I guess if you’re making outrageous claims like that, you aren’t paying too close attention to history in the first place.

I feel for these people. Must be really difficult living in the 15th century.

The whole thing reminds me of Father Guido Sarducci and the Find the Pope in the Pizza contest. 🤷

I’ve read conflicting reports on this but it appears that either Columbus or Cortez brought eating tomatoes back from their journeys and they were used in Spain and possibly Italy in cooking from the 16th century onwards…However it seems to have been slow to be accepted elsewhere - particularly England - and since the US sprang from an English colony perhaps that is why the legend persists…
