It seems that dreaming can occur without REM; in fac/t, ā€œlucidā€ dreaming, where you know you are dreaming, occurs in a phase between REM and wakefulness.

Ok, so back to this gospel…even if they were dreaming, it would still be a mracle? How?
 
Do we know they weren’t asleep because Scripture says ā€œPeter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, BUT BECOMING FULLY WAKE, they saw His glory and the two men standing with him.ā€?

Maybe they were in a shared hypnogogic state? 😃
 
To clarify, it says ā€œafter becoming fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Himā€,
But I wonder if they weren’t fully awake and were dreaming?
Why are you wondering this? It pretty clearly says that they were fully awake.
