Guess you’ve never heard of the words “conversion” and “repentenance…”

Honestly, who are we to judge the mortal state of an individual? You can connect me to many scandalous situations and incidents, but why does it matter to anyone except God?

Oh well, I guess you have a right to your opinion.🤷
With all due respect. I am still looking for missing girls.

Shall I tell their relatives Blair has repented, and simply move on?

Tony Blair is the same person today as he was when he was accepting cash from extreme pornographers.

I think that if Blair is sincere in his conversion that it is reasonable for him to be expected to publicly show adherence to Catholic doctrine.

Mr. Carlin, I am glad that there are people like you opposing the sex industry. The idea that there is a “right” to sexual entertainment and pornography is one of the most obscene depravities which is tolerated by our society. People like the Henry McDonald ignore the damage done by such things to everyone involved and they assume fallaciously that because some women might “choose” the profession or claim to enjoy it that it makes it alright. Of course, in the rush to justify the sex industry, people like McDonald don’t pause to wonder if social, economic, or psychological factors could be at work to make this consent less than consensual. And beyond that it certainly does not change the extreme damage done to these women - a lifelong scar for a customer’s passing pleasure.

If Blair was in any way responsible for the growth of the sex industry in the UK, then I think that if he is sincere then he should show his repentance for it. I do wonder what his wife thought of his various immoral positions. Did she not object as a Catholic?

If this is genuine, there is as much rejoicing in heaven over it as there was over St Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus (remember what he’s been up to prior to encountering Christ). Whatever he’s done in the past is history and he’ll have opportunity to make recompense.

If it’s not a true conversion, then all involved will shortly find out that God is not mocked.

Either way, it’s between God and Tony Blair; we each need to be concerned with our own dirty linen, not that of another.

The parliamentary watchdog was driven out of office because of Tony Blair. He is either the most sleazy British politician of the 20th century or he has a personality disorder, the latter may be the kindest interpretation. John Major has compared Blair’s regime with McCarthyism, I fully endorse that view.

I think God has already taken one hell of a mocking from Tony Blair. The Church in England is embracing one of the sleaziest politicians I have ever encountered. Cardinal Law was a person of relative innocuousness compared to Tony Blair in the child protection stakes. Blair’s legacy will be truly awful. His bad press is only just beginning.

Tony Blair and the Bishop of Portsmouth can sincerely open a few brothels together. I have no use for the one or the other. In other words, Catholic bishops are often a child protection liability at the best of times. In that sense, Blair fits in rather nicely.

Good news, but I hope their political opinions adhere to the catholic faith, I hope so.

Firstly I think there is a big difference between true repentence, and waiting until you have lost power, to convert.
Blair shows a lack of courage in as much as if he had been genuine in his beliefs, then church would have come before personal power.
He,s selling of Royal Honours,
Supporting of Illegal CIA Kidnapping, and the Torture that takes place at Guantanomo bay,
Support of Illegal War, including the falsifying of Documents prepared by security experts and later Sexed Up.
Blair has been a huge dissapointment. I remember when his new labour ousted the openly corrupt conservatives. The sense of hope that he has betrayed is immense.
I feel that this conversion is simply the next step of a man, who if he is not laughing up his sleeve at everybody, must be very sick in some way.

The later posts in this thread have been most uncharitable and, rather than discussing Mr. Blair’s conversion, have turned into nothing more than some very ugly Blair-bashing. The thread is now closed.
