Too attached to my rosary?

Even though I haven’t even had a chance to start my RCIA (and with my retail schedule I don’t know when I will), I ordered a rosary off of Amazon. I’m so attached to it I take it everywhere except for work as I don’t want it or the pouch it’s in to get overly dirty. I’ve even slept with it! Is this normal?
 
That’s certainly fine!! Your rosary is your spiritual weapon, and it is wonderful that you keep it with you at all times.

Simply be careful to not attribute any special powers or charisms to the rosary itself; it is a tool to be used, and it (in and of itself) does not have any power unconnected with the fervor with which you use it.
 
I doubt that one could EVER become ‘too attached’ to a Rosary. Just ask a Priest to bless it for you, and sprinkle it with Holy Water. Or submerge it in the font for a moment.

In addition to wearing a Brown Scapular, I also wear an unbreakable Rosary around my neck at ALL times. I sleep with a Rosary and a wooden Crucifix in my hand, and hold a Rosary during Mass or just about any time I pray. Properly and devoutly used, a Rosary is a strong channel of grace, among other things.

Read the book ‘Secrets of the Rosary’ by St. Louis De Montfort. Among other things, he discusses the benefits of wearing a Rosary around one’s neck. Modestly, under the clothing. Not as jewelry, to flaunt.

That’s perfectly normal, so long as you love it because you love what it represents – Our Lord and his dear Mother. Make sure you PRAY the rosary with those beads, too 😉 It’s the prayers that are powerful, not the beads.

I love the rosary, by the way. The meditations are such a gift from Our Lord!

There used to be special indulgence blessings that people would receive by wearing or carrying their rosary on their person. That’s why a lot of people from the Spanish-speaking world have that habit.

Oh, I know the rosary by itself is just beads and metal. And yes, I’ve prayed the rosary with them too. 😛 I didn’t even start wanting to carry them around until after the first chaplet I prayed. I guess it’s like I’m carrying around the prayers.

The rosary should be a very important element in our religious life. However it is not just carrying the rosary that counts. Reciting it at lwast once a day is better.
