Do you think the congregation is too critical of the leadership in their local church?

I suppose it depends on the congregation.
The parish I belong to IS very involved and
very supportive of the pastor.

My parish does NOT have parish council!
When my pastor wants to do something
he calls the WHOLE church together and
discusses what he would like to do and as
a PARISH we make the plans to get it going.

Well at my parish yes. Every little thing the priest does is criticised. Same with anyone seen as being on good terms with him and helping in any way. Several people have quit various ministries as a result.

Here is an example: Someone who does not drive needed a ride to the far away church in the winter. The person spoke about this to the priest. Nothing was done. No one volunteered a ride.

Which could mean the pastor didn’t find anyone; or the pastor was so busy that it slipped between the cracks; of someone was contacted but didn’t follow up…

None of which necessarily has to do with the leadership of the parish.

I totally agree with you.

That reminds me of a story I heard. A man I knew was getting ready fo mass. As he was getting ready he said, “I don’t feel like going to mass this week. All those people over there aer lying, theiving backstabbing thieves. And besides, tehy all hate me.”
I replied, “You have to go Father. Who will say mass if you don’t go?”
