I have about 4 crucifixes in my room. Is that too many? Should i spread them out around my house?

Just a personal opinion, with no Theological or Canonical backing, If the Crucifixes have become more of a piece of art than a place for Meditation, than there are too many. However, if for some reason, having these four Crucifixes all help with meditation on the Passion–perhaps they all portray it differently, lending to meditation on different parts–then i see no problem with having multiples.

I have to agree with SenorSalsa. Why not consider keeping one Crucifix in each room of your house. I do. My house is pretty much what Mom made it - but I’m continuing. We once got a small golden plastic Crucifix in the mail from some charity. Not knowing what to do with it, she finally found just the right spot - with no insulting intention…she tacked it to the entrance of our bathroom wall. Every room is covered - including the basement with the Sacred Letter’s Cross. Be they heirlooms or items from various trips. (Don’t ask about holy pics or statues - I could open a store - but wouldn’t part with most of them!)

Four in one room? Take SenorSalsa’s advice !

I’m guessing your room may be the only room you have control over. My opinion?

Don’t lose any sleep over it. If it’s too cluttered, put one or two elsewhere. If you like having them there, that’s all good and well.

Sadly it is the only room I have controll over. 😦 I tried to buy a St. Francis statue (outdoor) but my mom gave it to my grandmother.

Maybe the squirrels in her yard needed a blessing 😃

THen I wouldn’t worry if your room looks like a Catholic art store.

I have 82 crucifixes in one room. I collect them, from all over the world and from a wide range of time periods. There is nothing wrong with having a crucifix as a piece of art, either, as was intimated earlier. The Crucifixion has inspired artists for nearly the entire life of the Church. I’ve been moved to see an original etching of Rembrandt’s *Descent from the Cross *and a pen and ink drawing by Salvador Dali of the Crucifixion in the same gallery.

I would like to know, unless this is just something you like to collect, why do you display four crucifixes? You may want to consider only putting one out at a time. The crucifix is to help us meditate on the passion. Of course, if having four helps you do that better it would be ok.

I have a little self to hold my miniature saints and I have one there. I have one on my “home shrine”. I have one hanging on my wall. And the other one I carry around the house with me, but it stays in my room most of the time.
