I agree, this is a poorly written article and I don’t quite get what his point is.

I’m really sorry, but I didn’t understand this article. I’m sure that there’s still many good (young and adult) Catholics. The world is so big…

don’t ever say too much tradition to a jew.
some of thier tradtions are older than ours.

I don’t understand it, either. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to make sense.

Why would someone who is following all the laws of the Church have to go to Confession more frequently? (They probably go more often than he does, anyways.) :ehh:
Pope John Paul II went at least once a week and often more than that. When he confessed it is said that he spent up to a half hour in the confessional each time.

Someone who is following ALL of the rules of the Church would probably confess much more often than someone who isn’t simply because it is more important to them to do so.

What kind of a “Christmas miracle” is he invisioning?

Why does he want to hope for “changes” he will likely never see but 2wice a year?

Pope “Lopez”. That is the only thing that struck me reading his vent.

maybe Mr. Lopez thinks its highly unfair that he does not get a vote on how things are done. I think I shall e-mail him and offer to forward his suggestions to the proper administrator that will be happy to accomodate his wishes.

“Dear Satan, I found some interesting comments from a dear friend of yours who has some thoughts about how to keep people closer to you, the following letter should be forwarded to your staff at once and if more people adopt his attitude you will have to build a new wing”

Sounds like great kids!
oh they sure make life interesting! I think public and private school students are yearning for these sorts of things… it is just the paranoid administrations that hold them back in fear of law suits… now that is sad! In my public school back in the stone age we even had a club called “In the Son” club for christian bible study. Now don’t even try it!!!

Bottom line is that holiness attracts.
Amen!!!

Quote from the article:
Show me a young Catholic who a) attends Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days of Obligation, b) abstains from sex until marriage, and c) avoids meat religiously, so to speak, during Lent, and I’ll show you someone who also needs to attend confession a little more often.

What does this mean? I really don’t understand the point of this paragraph, much less the point of this whole article??!!

Explain it to me like I’m a 5 year old.
He is implying that Catholics who really try to follow the teachings of the Church are actually hypocrites 😦

Especially among a growing population of independent and pragmatic young adults who, while still adherent to the faith, hardly practice what is preached.
Is that sentence not a contradiction? How do you adhere while not practicing? The entire piece is confused and confusing.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, too, which is why the statement makes absolutely no sense, to me. If he is criticizing people who go to Confession on a regular weekly basis, then I wonder how often he goes?

Not to be cynical, but I expect it’s been longer for him than a week - probably by a long shot.

I’m so glad you’re here!!!

I really think that he is stating that those who say they are following the faith are lying.

Hey! I just e-mailed the guy who wrote the article. I told him Catholic Mass is serious and very meaningful. It is not a “feel good” protestant service.I asked him to brush up on what the Catholic Mass is all about. etc.
