Hi, I am currently 15 years old and I haven’t got my first communion yet. I was supposed to get it during my 6th grade but my parents were (and still are) too busy to attend the seminar for the guardians. We have mass in our school every month and I’m the only 9th grade who doesnt’t take the body of Christ. I was thinking if I should consider converting to another religion. Do churches accommodate adults who wants to have their first communion? In my country, they say priests get disappointed and I’m kinda scared lol. Thanks!

No no no no no no no, don’t do that! All you’d need to do is talk to your priest about the situation. They shouldn’t be disappointed, rather, I’d expect they’d be joyful that you’ve come to receive this most holy sacrament. Your priest could get in touch with your parents and try working something out to ensure you’re able to receive.

Preparations must be made for Holy Communion, that is, first confession with contrition, and the understanding of the Real Presence in the Eucharist.

You are NEVER too old to receive your first Holy Communion. It can be made at any age.

We do not and cannot know the circumstances but it is not cause for you to change religion. Indeed the fact you are considering this causes me concern and makes me wonder about your commitment to the Catholic Faith.

I suggest you raise this issue with a priest. Express to him your concerns and look at ways around it. I am sure there has to be a solution. Busy people make time for things so your parents could fit in this seminar if required.

I converted to the Catholic faith and my first Communion was in 1992 when I was 44 years old.

Adults make their First Communions at much older ages than yourself all the time. I think my father was about 37 when he made his.

Please discuss this with your priest and try to make arrangements to have your first Communion. As someone said, the priest might be able to speak to your parents and get them on board.

That’s a strange statement. Why would you do this?

Of course.

Go talk to the priest at your school or your parish. You should be able to do to confession if you aren’t already and then start receiving communion. There is no reason you shouldn’t be able to start receiving immediately.

Ignore what “they” say, and talk to your priest. Priests are there to help people.

I was baptized a Catholic. However my parents never took me to Church.

At 23 years old, I sought out a local parish priest. He enrolled me partially in RCIA, gave me my first Confession, first Communion, and my Confirmation.

You will be just fine and are never too old.

We had a man in his 90’s go through RCIA a couple of years ago. He received all of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. You are definitely not too old.

My stepfather just became Catholic last Easter and he is in his early 80’s!! You are most definitely not too old.

It is not possible to be too old for first communion. All that is needed is that you desire it, and that you meet the conditions.
Those conditions have nothing to do with how many years you’ve lived. You just need to be properly instructed, and to make a good confession first.

Talk to your priest. He’ll be glad to help you.

May God bless you richly.

No you’re never too old for 1st Eucharist I was 35 when I had mine but I am also a adult convert to the catholic church.

I converted Easter 2019, and I am PROUD to say I am 51 🙂
You are never too old 🙂
