I am about half-way through reading Saint Louis Marie de Montfort’s “Preparation for Total Consecration”.

This is REALLY wonderful and powerful.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks,
Scapular

yup, i’ve done this. 33 days prep. then on the 34th you make the offcial consecration. i loved that true Devotion book.

I kept looking for the book, but I haven’t got one.
The last time, somebody gave a book on consecration; however, the book is not from St Montfort. I quit praying it because it made me nervous and doubtful. I know if I get the book by St. Montfort, I won’t be worried.

Could somebody point to some online bookstore that is selling this book? anything other than amazon?

Thanks!

I was consecrated this last Feast of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8). 🙂 --yes, it is very wonderful! I am of the opinion that more Catholics should look into this consecration–it will bring increased holiness for the members of the Mystical Body. 🙂 That being said, it should not be taken lightly and one should prayerfully discern whether one is ready before undertaking it.

Also, if you enjoy “True Devotion to Mary” by St. Louis, I highly recommend “Glories of Mary” by St. Alphonsus Liguori. 🙂

I read the book True Devotion and I want to make the Consecration on the feast of the Assumption. I am concerned about the signature requirement for something that concerns my soul for all eternity. We just lost our parish priest and I don’t know the new one. I don’t know who to ask about this. How do you know when your ready?

If you feel confident that you are ready to turn over all your sacrifices, sufferings, and merits to Mary to offer to her Son for whatever purposes she sees fit, then you are ready. I thnk this an amazing thing, because her will is totally aligned with Jesus, we “maximize” the good we can offer for others–you may even be sent aditional adversity and suffering, it will increase your holiness and the good you offer for others–but, some people aren’t ready to completely let go and abandom themselves like that. If you’re not ready to do that, you shouldn’t do the total consecration. But if you are, God bless you! 🙂
