Has anyone here undergone St. Louis de Montford’s Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary? I am in the midst of the 33-day consecration.

HI,
I’m doing the preparation for the consrecation now. This will be my first time. There is another thread on the book True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin in the spirituality forums. God Bless, Tim

We are in the midst of a re-consecration right now. Look out, because things start happening. 😉

No. As an RCIA Candidate, it seems a bit presumptious of me to undertake something like this without appropiate spiritual guidence.😦

Now I will be going on a 2 week retreat next February, and have asked for spiritual guidence. I intend to talk about that, and BSP/CFT, and other aspects of my future life. I doubt if finally making it through the Easter Vigil is the end of the journey:rolleyes:

Can you share with us what the things are? 🙂
I really love this consecration. The prayers are beautiful and I was first introduced to the consecration on the 5th of this month through Legion Of Mary group.

Hi,
What is the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary?
Please explain- how can I participate, I am a confirmed catholic.??? Please post some information or links.

God Bless you All

this was done through rosary cenacle at my former parish, and a neighboring parish does this with all confirmation candidates. It seems to be a growing devotion here. When I finally received the booklet and other materials and got into the preparation, I recalled we did this in high school in our rosary sodality. Called my brother and former classmates to confirm, yes, this was the deMontefort consecration. Hope this, like the Brown Scapular devotion, and return to the rosary and traditional prayers is a sign of future things to come and I believe can and will be an occassion of great grace and renewal in the Church.

catholicdoors.com/prayers/english2/p02004.htm You say this prayer every day for 33 days. It was written by Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. It is a very powerful prayer, and consecrates you to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the heart of His Blessed Mother. From then on you are entrusted, as it were, to these two hearts.

I say the prayer at the end of 33 days of preparation. Here is a link to a site which has the prayers and readings:

If I remember correctly, they are the readings recommended by St. Louis-Marie.

The Consecration is a special devotion. We spend three weeks immersing ourselves in the spirit of Jesus, that is, emptying ourselves of the spirit of the world, which is opposed to the spirit of Jesus. It is a perfect renewal of our baptismal vows with and through Mary. There is a small book that takes you through the whole thing. After the prayers, all who are participating (your family, for instance), attend Mass, confession, and make some small token in honor of the Consecration. It is up to you if you want to notify the Montfort Missionaries who promote the devotion.

We did it because I was in prayer and was told to see with the “eyes of faith, not of the world”. This consecration sets us aside for more holy matters. We give ourselves over to God completely.

Believe me, things start happening. You become inspired to do things you never otherwise would. I was inspired to open my home to a single, pregnant mom from Mexico. I have also been commissioned to join an organization that helps the homeless. Do I feel like doing these things? Not necessarily. But we’re given special graces. On the other side of it, there is more spiritual attack from you-know-who, but we get that anyway, so what are you going to do.

They have a direct website: www.montfortmissionaries.com .
I have never logged on, so I’m not sure it is still current. I’m sure any Catholic bookstore has the book: Preparation for Total Consecreation according to St. Louis Marie de Montfort. Their address is Bay Shore, NY 11706-8993.

From a practical perspective, how does one live out one’s consecration?

Hello all.

I’m currently preparing for consecration on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. So far I have to admit I haven’t been terribly
faithful in applying myself to the daily prayers. From this day on, I resolve to be more faithful and with the grace of God, this consecration will become a turning point for me!

God bless,
Noel.

I need some advice from those of you who have done this total concecration. I have been thinking about doing this for a couple of months, but I find that whenever I think about it, I start feeling really nervous, anxious, and sometimes physically ill. I don’t know if the Holy Spirit is trying to tell me that the time is not right for me to do this,or if this is for some reason not right for me to do (maybe I’m meant for some other devotion?). I have a hard time understanding my repulsion to this consecration, however. What do you think?

Do you have a spiritual advisor whose judgements you can trust? I am waiting until my 2 week private retreat next February, with daily spiritual advice and instruction, to make any kind of decisions along those lines:o

Yea! You guys!🙂

But a person I meet with on a regular basis (besides you guys), no.

Our parish has been watching a series of dvd’s by Fr. Frederick L. Miller called “Union with God: The Spirituality of St. Francis de Sales” after mass. It is an inspirational series concerning the consecration. This series ran on EWTN. Hope this helps. Tim
