Tough decision

I recently accepted an offer to serve for the next two years as a missionary with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students).

I haven’t told anyone at my current job yet because the new job doesn’t start until the end of May. The other day my store manager asked about my future plans, and asked if I would be interested in taking on the Community Relations Manager position. Our current CRM is ready for the next step in his career, and when he moves up someone has to fill that role.

I wasn’t expecting this, and now I’m back where I was when first offered the job with FOCUS - on my knees praying for God’s guidance so that I make the right decision.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will guide me to choose the path most aligned with God’s will for my life, and for the grace to handle this situation with the appropriate level of respect and professionalism.
 
For guidance in your current situation, I pray:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Hmm… Store/Corporate Job vs Missionary Work that will be a life experience… doesn’t seem that difficult to me, but I’ll also pray for you. 😉
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. It’s not just about the decision, which wouldn’t be hard if it weren’t such a great opportunity, but also for the grace to handle the situation appropriately.
 
Thank you to everyone who has offered prayers for this intention. A few weeks ago I handed in my notice at work, and next week head off to training for FOCUS.

Any doubts about whether or not I made the right decision have been wiped away. I found out tonight a fellow 1st-year missionary is from the same area as me, went to the same college, and was a member of the same fraternity. We’ve never met, but we’ve been called to serve together.
