Towns With Funny Names

I also like that there’s a town called Rosaryville in Louisiana near Ponchatoula and St. Joseph’s Abbey.
 
Thanks for that, Milt. I mostly laughed at the name because I had just come from a stoner rock festival with all the usual things happening there that you’d expect. (I myself do not and have never indulged in pot - aside from the legal and moral issues, I hated the smell and never smoked tobacco so I wasn’t going to start smoking stinky stuff regardless of what my friends did.)

It is odd that we hear less about him than some of the other American air aces of his era.
Actually I just went down the top 10 list and the only ones I ever hear about are Pappy Boyington (mostly because of the “Baa Baa Black Sheep” TV series in the 70s) and maybe Foss.
Shame that these guys have been largely forgotten in the “anti-war” era.
I’ll put them on my prayer list.

I think the reason is he died about a week before the war ended, and the others survived and wrote books etc.
My surname would get a few laughs too if they named a town after me.
