Can anyone think of any songs about about toys/dolls?!

My daughter is looking for songs about toys, especially songs about dolls. The songs should be cute and innocent! “The Pretty Little Dolly” is not a good song for this situation.

She would prefer “fun” songs with lyrics, not classical.

We are all drawing a total blank! I know of some classical pieces about dolls, but can’t think of anything cutesy and modern.

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

I don’t remember all of the lyrics…but,
Isn’t there a song about Toyland?
…miniature girl and boy-land…
I think it is a Christmas tune.

How 'bout “The Marvelous Toy” (I think that’s the title?)

"It went zip when it moved,
And bop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still,
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will."

I don’t suppose she knows Spanish, does she? 😛

I found a couple of old songs from my childhood on youtube… but they’re in Spanish (well, one of them has a few lines in English)… “La Muneca Fea” (“The Ugly Doll”) and “El Raton Vaquero” (“The Cowboy Mouse”). You can get them translated, but something gets lost.

Still trying to think of other songs!

Hmmm…

Aqua - Barbie Girl
The Devonnes - I’m Gonna Pick Up My Toys And Go Home
Echo & The Bunnymen - Yo-Yo Man
Half Man Half Biscuit - All I Want For Christmas Is a Dukla Prague Away Kit
Harry Nillson - Cuddly Toy (demo)
Spandau Ballet - Toys
The Sugarcubes - Sick For Toys
They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse In Your Soul
White Stripes - I Think We’re Going To Be Friends (as covered by Jack Johnson)

Also, Kimya Dawson (who sang the kids songs that were used in the movie “Juno”), I think she does only childrens’ music.

Playmate, come out and play with me
we’ll bring my dollies 3,
splash in my rain barrel
slide down my cellar door
and we’ll be jolly friends
forevermore

I know I have some of the words wrong

all the other songs in my head are jump rope rhymes
Teddy Bear

March of the Tin Soldiers and Nutcracker music in general
Babes in Toyland suite
the march of the marionettes from Symphonie Fantastique (Ravel? Saint-Saens? I forget) I think it was Alfred Hitchcock theme from his old TV show

The Marvelous Toy, covered by several artists in the 50s-60s
it when b*** when it moved and b**== when it creaked and zzz when it stood still, I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will

Oh I see somebody got there first, also the Skate Key song

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot (this actually happened to our childhood play area the “woods”)

Red rubber ball by some 60s group, I think it was a one hit wonder

I am also thinking of some of the Frank Loesser songs from the Ugly Duckling, movie of the life of Hans Christian Anderson, the one about the ballerina and the tin soldier, and Thumbelina
