Is anyone here familiar with the American Society for Tradition, Family & Property? Opinions?
TFP seems to be a fine, upstanding organization that is surely worthy of our praise. Is anyone here familiar with the American Society for Tradition, Family & Property? Opinions?
Not so. Professor Plinio Correa de Oliveira advocated for a monarchical system, not truly a Republic. They are, however, staunchly conservative, socially and fiscally.…and republican in politics.
Orthodox and loyal to Rome.Is anyone here familiar with the American Society for Tradition, Family & Property? Opinions?
You’re right. I should have said right “right wing” or “conservative.” Sorry I was imprecise. I read it quickly and said these guys vote Republican not Democrat. Not so. I think it is very apparent that people have used the theory of evolution as “proof” of atheism in a very malgnant way.In my opinion any person or group that advocates against evolution as if it were an article of faith automatically loses any I could have for them.
(Side point: many accusations against monks and nuns were alleged for the purpose of stealing their property, which was used to help the poor.)Also the group is obsessed with the middle ages as if it was the perfect era in human history no it was not the middle ages were a time when bishops ran brothels and monks were the biggest costumers. the nobility and clergy ruled and went to war for their own benefit and were hardly saintly figures to emulate
Yes, there were bad knights, just as there are bad police officers. But not all the knights were bad. Did you know that the conferring of knighthood involved a period of prayer and fasting as well as vows to protect the weak? It was this not at all like the mafia, which does not trun to the Church for guidance. They also are obsessed with knights and chivalry let it be perfectly clear knights have more in common with the modern mafia then they do with King Arthur. These were people who would do anything and kill anyone for money or land. Again not at all an example for youth.
I think that setting higher goals is a wonderful idea which will help people to attain a higher level of holiness than “accepting they will do bad things,” as we do today. In short they are stuck in the past as if it is the solution to all the probelms we face today
I can not agree with this at all. Why on earth would someone be Catholic if this were the case? Accepting Christ and striving for holiness is bound to improve people, even if they do continue to fall. At least they won’t be left wallowing in the mire of despair: they will receive God’s help in being good and thus fall less and less frequently. And the more people are striving to please God, the more love there will be, and that is always a good thing.even if everyone in the world accepted christ we would still have sin and be in roughly the same position we are now that is reality not what they want.
Their website left a favourable impression of them, but - as far as I know - they are not active anywhere near where I live, though there are supposedly chapters over here in Europe. I was thus curious whether any other forum members had any experience with them, and how they were perceived.TFP seems to be a fine, upstanding organization that is surely worthy of our praise.
Is there anything in specific you wanted to know about them? I have never pursued anything with them, they don’t usually come this far north unfortunately!
They aren’t conservative, they are reactionary, huge difference. You’re right. I should have said right “right wing” or “conservative.” Sorry I was imprecise. I read it quickly and said these guys vote Republican not Democrat.
It seeks it started in Brazil against liberation theology then spread to the US. It is evidently traditionalist in worship and ceremony and republican in politics.
