Many of my Protestant friends and family always seem to view everything in false dichotomies: Scripture OR Church, Jesus OR Mary, etc. The “Tradition OR Grace” dichotomy is equally false.
Catholics understand it as Scripture AND Church, Jesus AND Mary, Tradition AND Grace, etc.
I suggest that instead of relying upon polling others about what the Catholic Church teaches, you simply read the “sure norm of Catholic teaching” that the pope himself promulgated, the Catechism of the Catholic Church. scborromeo.org/ccc.htm
It states that the child of God "knows that the love he is returning is poured out by the Spirit in his heart, for everything is grace from God. " (CCC 2712)
I really don’t know how this could be viewed as a “side of grace.”
hey guys, please keep up the arguments, April won’t be back for a while, she’s left on a missions trip, but I’ll try to keep her questions and threads going for her as best I can. Thank you
