The problem is lack of education. Most U.S. Catholics don't even know the basics. I'm not talking 8th grade knowledge of the faith. I'm talking kindergarten! Surveys say 75% of people in the U.S. who label themselves as Catholic don't even attend Mass on a regular basis! And those who do rarely, if ever, even go to Confession! We're seen an absolute failure in catechesis.
I had a friend back in Louisiana who got a call from a priest friend, who was all excited because he saw a TV program on "something called Fatima." He had NEVER heard of Fatima! Not in grade school, not in high school, not in the seminary. Nowhere!
You hang in there and keep making those brown scapulars! Our Lady and Her Son know exactly what you're doing. And when you're turned down like that, just offer it up! Unite it to the suffering of Jesus on the Cross! That's powerful!
