I’m very interested in this topic. Can some one provide more information or a link.
Thanks!!!
To commemorate a saint according to the trad rubrics (or to commemorate a feria, or whatever):
- Find out which commemorations to make. This will be found in an ordo (FSSP published one, so does LMS, and so do the SSPX). To use the original example, in Lent the Feria will be said (takes precedence) over the feast of St. Gabriel, but St. Gabriel is comemmorated (at Lauds only in this case).
- After the collect is over and you say the “Per Dominum nostrum…” then you add first the antiphon, second the verse and response, and then third the collect.
It would look like this:
Orémus
Say the collect as usual.
Fiat Domine quaesumus, per gratiam tuam fructuosus nostrae devotionis affectus: quia tunc nobis proderunt suscepta ieiunia, si tuae sint placita pietati.
Per Dóminum
Then add the antiphon from the commemorated feast.
Then the verse and response.
V. Stetit Angelus iuxta aram templi
R. Habens thuribulum aureum in manu sua
*And then the collect of the commemoration.
