I am happy to announce that starting April 29th, there will be a permanent, weekly Diocesan Traditional Latin Mass offered at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday, LA. The Church is located in the Diocese of Alexandria, LA. The pastor was already in the process of getting a TLM started when I met him. Our group has worked tirelessly on bringing the Traditional Latin Mass to an area that has not had one available for countless years. To make a long story short, our efforts are finally coming to fruition. Our first TLM will be:

Date :Sunday 29 April 2012
Time: 1:00 PM

St. Patrick Catholic Church
601 Florida Ave.
Ferriday, LA 71334

This will be a permanent Mass that will be offered each Sunday at 1:00 PM–Please, please pray for our success in building our Latin Mass Community–if you are in the general area and seeking a Traditional Latin Mass–COME JOIN US–If you have family and friends who are seeking a Traditional Latin Mass–TELL THEM PLEASE.

God Bless you all–Deo Gratias

This is wonderful news! If only one would be started near me.

I would like to know and enter in people’s minds so that I would understand what has the Tridentine Mass of so special to make such a big effort to get it.
It is something that puzzles me.
It is in latin (I know latin very well), most of the people simply do not understand latin enough, the priest turns the back to the people, the ritual is outmoded…
And the use of the term Traditional Mass puzzles me too. There was a time when the Traditional Mass was in greek and there was big resistance to change it into latin, the language of the people…
I know that Anglos are traditional people, just see the British Monarchy, coming straight from the Medieval Times…
But, the OT and knowing that Christ if there in the host for us to eat is not enough?

With 3500+ posts one would think you would know the answer. The Priest isn’t turning his back to the people. It is ad orientem or facing east(liturgical east). Since when God comes again there is a traditional belief he will come from the east. Using the term outmoded to describe the ritual is just inflammatory and is your personal opinion not fact. There are tons of complaints that could be listed to describe what has happened in Novus Ordo Masses in the past 40+ years that would explain why people crave the TLM. Maybe you should spend time doing something productive instead of picking fights with people who prefer the Traditional Mass. Try not to get bitter that people want to find the reverence and beauty that has been stripped from the Mass in most places. God deserves the best, not the simplest.

Why saying an opinion is picking a fight?
Sincerely no wish to fight with anybody.
I use the word outmoded because it will be gone. The race is into the future not into the past.
There is one sentence of yours that deserves attention. When you say that there was turmoil in the past years with OF.
TRUE. That is the problem. The problem is with such a big change, there comes big transformations. Very bad things happened. But we must accept them. We must weed the bad things out and take the good ones. We must help to change the OF into a beautiful and moving ceremony towards God.
Another thing you said, that the EF is more solemn and the OF simpler. OK. That is true. But remember that the EF has got 500 years behind it. We must transform the OF into a ceremony as beautiful as the EF (That I enjoy very much but as an extraordinary exception than as usual ceremony). So, you noticed that we must make new music, new lirics, now worship ways, we must experiment, choose the best, take out the bad ones, this will take a lot of work, of time, of bad experiments, but this is the work of God. We must help the OF to become a beautiful experiment.
Now, I am not taking anybody’s freedom. I am not in the USA, I am not fighting against people who go to EF, which is a mass good as good as the OF.
Just stating that we need everybody to help changing the OF into a beautiful ceremony getting us closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless You.

Pfaffenhoffen,

Hudson is right in that you know better. You have seen many posts about the EF. You have seen the many debates. You know how trads feel.

You may not agree that it is something that should be nourished as you feel it is the past and we should go into the future.

However, your statement above is hurtful and not helpful.

You don’t know whether it will be gone or whether we will return to it or whether we will have some sort of hybrid. You just don’t know.

In the meanwhile, please leave those of us who are spiritually nourished by the EF and who promote it as a valid form, in peace.

Thank you.

This is what makes me giggle, I have to say. Why go to all that trouble when beautiful, mysterious music, lyrics and pageantry already exists in the TLM? All your local church has to do is rustle up the media. Reinventing the wheel is bad engineering.

I would like all the people who favour the reforms to calm down and look very closely at their motivations to experiment. Why are ye doing this? Is it working?

Two words to ye: Cranmer’s Mass. When I found out what they meant, I was very angry. All the ‘new’ stuff is simply a re-hash.

OK. I thought I left everybody in peace!
If someone is convicted that must go to a certain mass, he/she should go not paying attention to the opinion of others. Mine included. Mine does not count if someone is sure that must do something. If people feel like going, come one, go and shread my opinion.
No, we are in a Forum that promotes debate.
I do not think that it helps if people are too sensitive. I think that feelings are feelings. People who go to the EF mass have feelings like I have feelings. I get moved to tears by the EF mass for I was an altar boy, I knew all the mass in latin by 5 and the litany of saints in latin by 6 and I studied and I was a teacher of latin. The EF has not secrets for me.
But no one answered my post: I said the OF needs you. That was all my message. Individual sentences cannot be taken out of context. The context is that we go forward and the OF needs you.
Of course I go to the EF when it happens to be the one which is there and my wife (more than I ) and me love it.
But I know that the OF needs me and I have projects to help the Church. Simply, I did not find my place and my projects have not found echo in the hierarchy. But i will fight so that it may be more beautiful.
Now, I apologize if I hurted someone. That is not my business. I fight ideas and actions and do not intend to hurt people.
God Bless You.

I had a big post to you but lost it somehow.
Reinventing the wheel was what V II did. We must obey.
My motivations are simple: to help the Church, to obey the priests, Bishops and the Pope. I proposed many creative things which were refused and I obey.
It is working because Jesus Christ never leaves this Church.
I saw Cranmer’s Mass and read only 2 paragraphs to know that they are talking heresy.
Maybe you are right. Maybe the EF will last forever. Maybe God wants that. If God wants that, THY Will be done.
God Bless You.
