The only two Traditional Catholic publishers I am aware of are Baronius Press and Angelus Press. First of all I am completely aware of the affiliations of Angelus Press and do not want this to degenerate into another shouting match between SSPX sypathizers and detractors. I merely wish to know based on the content (orthodoxy), materials used and quality of products which is the better company to order from. Also the names of other traditionalist publishers if possiable.

You should check Ignatius Press, You can google to it. It is the largest Catholic publisher. It is the largest because it provides books (and also movies from various sources) loyal to Catholicism, which gets many interested in buying from them. You could also consider buying from the bookstores of the Daughters of St Paul (or at the store online at www.pauline.org) The books they sell are loyal to the faith. They publish books themselves, but also sell books from other publishers.
There had been many good Catholic publishers until the 1960s like Sheed and Ward that went went bankrupt since people stopped buying from them in the chaos after Vatican II. I was around myself then and admired these publishers for the books they put out–but alas they are gone.
However there are a few very other small Catholic pubishers loyal to the faith that have recently appeared besides Ignatius Press whose names escape me now.
You are wise to be careful. There are some publishers who call themselves Catholic that publish books by dissenters from Catholic beliefs.

I recently bought a Roman Missal (hand missal) with the Mass of 1962 in Latin and English from Baronius. It seems to be a very high quality volume, is beautifully and traditionally laid out, re-typeset, and has a 2009 Imprimatur from Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz of Lincoln, NE. It also includes the full Latin/English text of Summorum Pontificum, many traditional Catholic prayers including several litanies, and quotes from the 1983 Code of Canon Law, while also listing and encouraging older practices. (For example, it lists both the traditional practices of fasting from midnight or for 3 hours before receiving the Eucharist, and acknowledges the current canon of fasting for 1 hour.) So it’s traditional and faithful to the Magisterium, showing the traditional liturgy but not ignoring recent developments in canon law and such.

I can’t compare it to the one from Angelus Press. But this one from Baronius is great, faithful, and orthodox, and I’m really happy with it.

Thankyou for these responses. I am a Canadian and to my knowledge Abgelus Press missal has Ordinaries for Canada. Is this a good reason to order from them instead of Baronius Press?

There is also Tanbooks/St. Benedict press (I believe). They have a lot of good traditional books and rare ones that previously have been out of print.

Be cautious with TAN, they take stuff to the “extreme” edges of traditionalism.

Just to add to the list, there is a newer publisher out of Europe that prints new and old titles. The books are in English. They can be found here lulu.com/Tradibooks Many interesting titles.

Hmm, odd, I was looking in my Baronius Missal and they have United States, England/Wales, Scotland, and Australasia… but not Ireland or Canada. I’d imagine that there’s not much you would be missing, but I really don’t know.

I wish one of these publishers would come out with a new TLM daily missal for NA that contained only the essentials for Mass a selection of devotionals at a reasonable cost, something like the old St. Josephs Daily Missal of the 1950’s. Not all of us can afford to lay out $60 or more for a missal.

Quantity discounts are available from Angelus Press.

TAN books is not extreme. I have seen extreme, and TAN books does not fit the bill.
TAN is “extreme” in the sense that many of its books say things that many Catholics don’t want to hear. I have found that their books on the Faith are unabashedly Catholic - they are not afraid to speak of things like sin, death, judgment and hell - things often glossed over in newer, less “extreme” books. Or even side issues that many of today’s enlightened Catholics consider “unpleasant” like relics and the incorruptibles and eucharistic miracles.

If you want to know your faith, I’d suggest TAN publishing or Angelus Press if the SSPX affiliation isn’t an issue for you. If you read the stuff they approve for most Religious Ed classes these days, you’ll probably end up as muddled and confused as I was for a good part of my life. 😉
