I, too, am a convert…elsewhere on this site I have talked about being a raised to be a weapon to “protect souls from the Catholic Church”. Not to pick on anyone, but the disturbing thing about ttraditionalism is that it leads to strife (and, eventually, Protestantism). There is a huge difference between (for instance) practicing fasting and abstinence even outside of Lent, as a personal devotion, and (for instance) defiantly standing during the Eucharistic Prayer because you don’t think you have to kneel for anybody. When in doubt, be led by the magisterium.

May our Mother protet us!

You can be 100% correct (which you are) and still fail in changing minds with a poor delivery. I am sure you probably didn’t mean ill will, but to a new person reading your post you do not come off as looking too charitable (I would submit some other adjectives come to mind.) Just something to think about.

Peace.

Tridentine Mass is not superior to the NO Mass, technically speaking. But if I prefer to attend a Latin Mass with people behaving reverently over a NO mass with lack of reverence then maybe to me it is superior. That doesn’t mean I believe every Latin Mass is more reverent than every NO mass. I’m sure there are very reverent NO Masses. Like the one on EWTN. I don’t think Dumspiro has to defend preferring the Latin Mass. The buzz word here is “traditional”. I don’t refer to myself as a Tradional Catholic because people will assume things about me that are untrue. I am a Roman Catholic whose lifestyle is traditional or old-fashioned. Maybe that’s a better way to put it.
I would never refer to myself as a “Roman Catholic”, despite the fact that my home parish is a Roman Rite parish.

The Catholic Church is just that – the Catholic Church. The Roman Rite of the Western Half is just one segment of the Church – albiet, by far the largest.

I think the term “Roman Catholic” was coined by Anglican Protestants back when they still tried to sell the idea that they were part of the Catholic Church…

My point is that there is a Roman rite, like Byzantine, etc… There isn’t a Traditional one. I happen to belong to the Roman. In casual conversation I say simply “Catholic”.

I guess to avoid criticism or upsetting anyone, in the future I can just say, “I attend an Indult Mass celebrated using the 1962 Missal” but tht takes a lot of words - Maybe I can call it IM1962M or 1962IM -(1962 Indult Mass) and instead of NOM, we could say 1970OM - 1970 Ordo Missae

I think we all have a desire to communicate with the next guy here on the forum but without differentiating terms sometimes it is difficult to do this.
