Vince. There is not much more I could clarify. We know Jesus spoke Aramaic because the Scriptures have him quoted in the language. Latin was used by the Romans and the Romans ruled over Jerusalem and other provinces. Greek was the common language yes because it was the business/merchant language similar to english today. The entire New Testament is in Greek originally. So we know that there were 3 languages going around.
Right. Thanks.

In John 1:1. Jesus is the God of the Old Testament.

John 1:1 is “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

How does that say “Jesus is the God of the Old Testament”? The same God of the Old Testament that ordered the execution of innocents? Or what do you mean? Thanks.

It should all be self explanitory. Jesus is the Word and the Word is God. Since God made all things and since the Word is God and nothing was made that the Word did not make, therefore the Word ( Jesus, God ) is the Creator as stated in Genesis and IS the God of the Old Testament. ( Not many Christians know or believe this. )

Where? I can’t recall the reference. Thanks.
Mark 5:41 talitha kum
Mk 7:34 Ephphatha
Mk 15:34 Eloi, Eloi lama sabachtani

There might be a couple more. They would probably be in Mark’s gospel since that is one of its characteristics. They are not identified as Aramaic in the text.

Yes, of course. That doesn’t mean Jesus spoke Latin.
Okay, if it can be proven Christ never spoke Latin, would that change anything today? Don’t the Eastern Rites have ancient languages which Christ probably didn’t speak either but they want to keep them untranslated anyway? And, in my opinion, they should if they have been time-tested with spreading the true faith.

How did we get to arguing over whether Jesus spoke Latin? Why is that important?
